i just found a stock silver 2004 b6 usp 1.8t QM for $16500. good deal or bad deal? kbb has it for around $17k private party, good condition. the car has 52k miles on it. should i be looking for a better deal than this? its hard to find a clean usp these days. let me know. thanks

well 16500 is a good deal already. just try to get him down to 16k, use any excuse you can think of man why do you care if you offend him? He's not one of your friends right? So you'll prob never see him again after the deal is done.. Not trying to have a dick attitude but nice guys finish last (and end up paying more for cars) .

also look for some sort of flaw in the car and use it to get the price lower (possible scratches or dents, whatever).

i got mine in december for $16 even with 53k miles on it. So I'd say its a good deal.

Tell the guy, straight up:

"Look, I absolutely love the car and it's worth probably more than what you're asking, but I'm already stretching my budget way past what I should. I feel like a fool for lowballing you, but $16k is the best I can do."

He'll either take it or meet you half way. If he calls your bluff, tell him he's a good salesman and you'll take it for what he's asking. You get the car either way and if he wouldn't move on price, at least you stroked his ego a little.

i picked up an 2002 a4 3.0 a lil more than a year ago, sold that car last week for basically what i bought it for. do the same and get an USP.

ya man, go for that price... 16.5 is a steal for a usp... although i snagged up my 04 1.8t w/ 6spd for 11k at 42000.. it needed a clutch, and lucky for me i am a tranny tech.

Montreal is known for raping. I've never done business with anyone like Quebecians...not that their bad people. It's just a completely different world for business.
