H&R sports or eibach pro kit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So im trying to find out which springs im allowed to get... I am purchasing some 19s from a member here, the wheels are 19 x 8.5 and 19x 10. the front are 235 35 19 and rears are 265 30 19
i really really want the h&r sports because i had the race springs on my a4 and i loved them 100 %. the h&r are known to have the aggressive lowering on the a6 so thats what i would like to have... my question is will i have any rubbing issues with the 19s... btw the tires are general uhp... if i will have rubbing then i will go with the eibach because thats what the seller has and he isnt rubbing, but like i said, i want it aggressive and low.. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated

Re: H&R sports or eibach pro kit

I would recommend Eibach. H&R will get low low... and very stiff. You could always try to play with offset/spacers and put some camber in the rear to avoid rubbing.
BTW. I assumed you had shocks too, you're not planning on doing this on an A6 with the stock shocks?

im waiting on shocks until i figure out which springs to get... thats not the important part at the moment i just want it real low without rubbing on the wheels and tires

The Eibach / FSD kit would be a good setup to go with.

Well it is your car and your $ but I disagree.
Don't wait on shocks for two reasons:
1- You'll save $/time by doing shocks and springs together, one install
2- With OEM shocks especially if yours are original from 2000, you'll kill them in a hurry and your car will bounce, therefore rub more.

gigi thats not what i meant... im doing shocks definitely but im not choosing shocks until i pick which springs obviously since certain shocks have better results with certain springs. like i said i like it low but i dont want to risk rubbing.. it sounds that the eibach are the way to go..?

Re: H&R sports or eibach pro kit

With H&R only, it rubbed quite a bit.
When I added the KOni yellow shocks, it decreased the rubbing quite bit but it still rubbed against the liner, which melted, there is a hole now where the tires rubbed. Ni biggy though.
To be on the safe side, I had removed one of the screws that hold the liner, located at the top center of the fender. Not really needed and I'd rather the tire rub against a soft plastic liner and the head of the screw :)

hmm I really want the cheap H&R + Bilistein combo, but this thread might change my mind. Do you think I will have rubbing with the VMR 708's with a +35 offset. They are 18x8.5 and I would keep the 235 tire.

    FRank,
    that's exactly what I had RSGT 19 X 8.5 Et38 with 245/35/19 Khumos.
I don't know the Billstein but the H&R springs definitely are lower and have a more aggressive spring rate than the eibach. I compared them same day driving my car and my buddy's right after (he has also a 2004 2.7T with 19's, Hsport sways, Koni yellows and EIBACH). So At the time the only difference b/w our cars were the springs (H&R VS. Eibach). The height difference is mostly in the back.
With 245, you'll get a taller tire wall so a little more comfort and protection than with the recommended 235/35/19 but not all tires are created equal so somew 245's are bigger and squarer than others.
I could not keep Goodyears F1 AS in 245 but could keep the khumos before.

Nothing wrong with a littl erubbing as long as it is not all the time or every turn or every bump..
With my Koni yellow and 19's, the rubbing was only during heavy load situations... I really don't care if my liners have a hole in them

So the eibach is about the same, just a bit higher in the rear, and yeah i would go Khumo SPT's, they seem really round, did you have the adjustable koni's?

Re: H&R sports or eibach pro kit

SPTs are what I had. Had a set in 235, then a set in 245\. Cheap decent tire but some shop said they are hard to balance on 19 sizes for some reason.
Mine did good on the BBS RS-GTs and BBS CKs.

Th Eibach does not lower as much and has a lowr/less aggressive spring rate than the H&R. It'll be more comfortable.

I don't have good pic with my new set up, but GMP took soem the day of the install and put them in their gallery
    http://www.gmpperformance.com/index....2511&MakerID=2

That was day1, so they ahve settled a little since then and I changed the tires from 245 to 235 the following day as they rubbed

so what do you recommend with 19x8.5 , 245 or 235?, and btw the car looks great, and it still looks really low with the Eibach.

Oh and btw, hows your car sound with the APR exhaust, i just ordered mine friday, do you like the sound?

The solution to all of this C/O but I just can't justify the exta $500 or so. I will never adjust them from where I like them so why not just put in springs... Obviously there are benifits.

for comfort 245 but you take a chnace that dependiong on your suspension set up and which tire yuo get, it might rub more.
Safe bet is 235... if you're really concerned with rubbing

car sounds like stock pretty much, a little extra growl at idle...

no worries, it just rubs against the plastic which ends up melting away but it is not like the wheel goes in there... Nothing happens, there is just a little hole and it is very thin/soft around the hole in the area where the rubbing occurs
