Taping technique... how do you polish the area under the tape??

Forgive the über noobish question, but I searched and can't find anything on this...

I understand taping off the plastic, cracks, etc when using a PC or other powered tool, but how do you polish/wax the area that the PC does not reach b/c of the tape? You still need to apply wax to this area, and even by hand you can get some wax/polish into cracks and onto plastic...

What's the technique for these areas?? Im really interested to know how you pros do it.

    Thanks!
    Jon

by hand, if you get some in the crack just wipe it right out.

The tape's edge should meet with the edge of the trim. If you still miss areas after removing the tape, apply a vinly/rubber protectant on the plastic and then treat the area. By treating the trim first, any wax or polish residue will come off easily.

I block it off as best I can, then carefully apply the wax when I go near the cracks and plastic. If I DO get wax in the cracks I take the edge of a microfiber towel, and put it between the cracks and slide back and forth getting rid of the wax in there, or get a stove top blade (just a plastic scraper almost like a surf wax remover) and put it in between a towel and crease it over, and insert it. I dont start with wax near the cracks though, when the applicator pad barely has any wax on it, I go towards the area and very gently/carefully apply it
