    Oil from the Factory

I heard that when you purchase a new car the oil that comes in the car has other additives to help with the gaskets and such. Some say it should be left in the car for a few thousand miles 5k.

Seeing as I change new car oil at 1k, I am wondering if this is true.

I've only got 400 on the thing but am prepping for the first oil change. i actually haven't been able to drive due to a mountain bike accident and the flu. Drove it today for the first time in two weeks.

    Re: Oil from the Factory

Honda/Acura has a break-in oil additive on fresh new cars. We advise customers to not change their oil for the first 5k or so. Not sure about audi's but I'd leave it alone til 5k. Let the engine break in properly and settle its wear patterns before changing anything

    Re: Oil from the Factory

Thanks Ant! I'm gonna look into what else could be in the oil. Looks like the oil isn't getting changed at 1k until i find out what exactly is in the pan.

BTW, how are the pedals working out for you?
