034 Motorsports parts porn...8000 RPM, here I come!

First and foremost, HUGE thanks to Issam for hooking me up big time with these parts. I highly recommend Issam, especially when ordering from 034 Motorsports! He's been a huge help the last few weeks and has always been there to answer my questions and annoying IM's

Now, onto the good stuff:

034 Titanium Retainers & Supertech Inconel Exhaust Valves (Springs not pictured). These are being installed on a set of ATQ 2.8 V6 heads.



Can't do 2.8/RS4 heads without this. Phenolic spacers are from 034 as well.



Compression is lowered .7 points with these guys...



Got flow? Bosch 044 drop in solution from 034.



And finally, this should help keep the 600+ horses under control. Street density engine & tranny mounts with an 034 snub mount.




A general update regarding the GT set up: Car should be going under the knife by the weekend if I'm able to find a shop that can do the install (includes rods). If anyone has suggestions in the Westchester, NY or CT area please PM me.

just a word of caution, ive had a major problem in the past on my previous car with titanium retainers. Make sure you have them inspected every 5000 miles for wear.

Very nice. I'll most likely be ordering some stuff from Issam very soon. Misc tidbits to compliment the new motor. I need to go routing around on their website to figure out what I need.


Only place I know of is ASP down in South Jersey. I haven't dealt with (or trust) anyone else to work on my car.

^^2nd. You might see a bit of valve float up there, but it's not something a set of solid lifters won't take care of (that is if you don't mind the noise, roughness, and lobe wear) ; )

Then again, if you're going GT's and pushing things that hard this, prolly isn't your DD anymore, so who cares...!

Hydraulic lifters are good to about 8500, you will be just fine at 8000 and the Ti retainers have no issues with wear.

alright, I'll give you that but not with out some stiffer springs. even then your bound to drop a seat running that kind of rpm too much.

you have to admit that 8k is at the upper limits of the valvetrain efficiency for these engines (w/ OEM internals). there becomes a point where the oil just can't move fast enough in the lifter anymore... i/e float.

infinkc - What engine did you have issues with using TI retainers (VAG application?)

dougyfresh - I've considered ASP but I'm not sure how enthusiastic Mark is with installing and tuning another companies GT kit.

McKennaS4 - With luck, I hope to have her up and running the beginning of April (that's best case scenario). Tune is not 100% finalized yet, still working on that (along with the install). You are more than welcome to swing by during the summer if you're in the Westchester, NY area!

AB18 - You bet. There's a local track up here which opens mid-April and I'm planning on making a few trips there before I head back home for the Summer. The track is great - typical hicksville track which is empty, you can hotlap as many times as you want. I might not be launching the hell out of it, but I'm interested in trap times.

DxC - A good chunk of change but Issam hooked me up because of repeated business. I have a set of Rosten rods.

S4evr - You know it! I saw your car parked on campus today, looking good as always.

GURUMAN - No doubt, Issam is great. Looking forward to seeing your set up when it's all finished.

BastardS4 - I'm running stiffer valve springs as well (just not pictured) and plan on 8000 rpm as the redline (doesn't neccessarily mean i'll be shifting at redline all the time). It should be fine.

Gavin - That's the plan, the S4 is my one and only car and it will be driven 365 days a year.

Jared - If i'm not done before you I may fall into a deep depression.

AMC83189 - I'm up at school in upstate NY most of the year and the car is down south in the suburbs outside NYC. I really don't have any time to do the work and could hold off on the project and attempt to do it during the summer...but I would much rather have the car done before the summer so I can enjoy it then.

I'm sticking with Motronic 7.1. The 034 standalone is a great solution for the more extreme GT set ups, but since this is a daily driver I want to keep the components that are normally lost by switching to a standalone fully functional.

Given that the S4 is the only car I own, it needs to be as streetable as possible. I'm not exaggerating when I say the car will be driven every single day of the year - from 90+ degree summers to 5 degree freezing winters.

even with a aggressive tune a GT car can be a good DD. I love mine and i have a aggressive tune on my car, but when not in boost the car takes no gas and i get amazing gas millage. When i actually decide to press it on the highway the car picks up and moves like needed. So basically when not under load his car will drive like a NA car but when load starts coming on hes will be

Nah, I havn't revealed the details yet but I'm gonna be running a big wet shot in the RS4 mani.

With my driving style, I stay out of boost during normal driving with the occasional pull when the road allows for it. Don't get me wrong, I don't want some weak tune, it would be ideal to have 500 wheel and beyond on pump.
