Exclamation Unable to disengage ECON mode...HELP!

    Hi,

I live in the NY area and have had my car for a couple of weeks and so far everything seems to be working fine on the car. Yesterday was my first long drive (about 150 miles) and the car ran flawlessly, but I was driving the whole time with the "ECON" mode engaged. Today when I was driving again, I tried disengaging the "ECON" mode in order to set it at auto, but this simply wouldn't work. If I press the "Auto" button, ECON stays ON and if I press the ECON button, it simply doesn't go off.....what do you think is wrong???

    Your A/C compressor isnt working.

1.) Either low on freon, get it checked out.
2.) compressor went bad (likely, but unlikely)

mine is constantly ON too... but thats because i have a ripped AC hose... ECON will go on if you have a loss of pressure in the AC system. check your hoses, get it scanned (it will show up in VAG-COM) in my case it was a failure of the G65 pressure sensor.

Another cause if it isn't low freon as stated above, is the head unit itself (the climate contols) can fail, that happened to me, around $700 bucks to fix if not under warranty.
