Just took my A4 1.8T S Line Tiptronic, into Audi for routine servicing. I mentioned to them that when I pull up to a stop light the car's Rev's dip a little below 1000 RPM just as it's changing itself back to 1st. It doesn't happen all the time but they sometimes dip enough that it could stall, but it doesn't. This does happen when I pull up to a stop suddenly, otherwise it's fine.
If I reset the memory, (insert key, turn press accelerator for 5 sces, turn back key etc), then she runs helluva lot better, but it does come back in the end. FYI, I only do in-city driving (stop start driving), living in NYC as you can imagine.
They apparently did a lengthy & detailed check, NOT. (I quote: We took it for a drive) and the result was they think I need to put in a new Auto-Transmission Valve Body! Which is around 2600 bucks...!
Now maybe I'm nuts, but it just doesn't seem right.
First, there's gotta be a better way of checking something as complex as this than just taking it for a spin...
Second, it's an 2004 Model, with 14,000 Km's when I bought it one year ago, now has 28,000 Km's, so it's hardly been driven. Previous owner was a housewife who barely drove it...!
So, advice thoughts, WTF do y'all suggest????
