Clutch Stuck in Replaced at 60k

Well I bought the car at 70k, and he said he replaced it at 60k (its at 87k now) . The clutch had an extremely late engagement point, but didnt really have trouble grabbing. I never felt slippage. So, I think the clutch is okay.

I was driving down an off ramp and slowing down till i got to about 40 mph. I felt a bit more sporty than usual i guess, I just put the 14851's in, and decided to down shift. As I was down shifting to 2nd or 3rd (i dont remember), i pressed teh clutch in like usual. and it didnt come back to me lol. It was just stuck to the floor. Anyone know what this could be? I read an old post as i was searching and it might be the mass cylinder??(in which case it would cost a couple hundred dollars??)? I dont know what a mass cylinder is. someone please lead me to teh correct answers!

I highly doubt its a clutch issue. Its a clutch master cylinder and loss of hydraulic pressure.

Re: Clutch Stuck in Replaced at 60k

I appreciate the responses. Thanks guys.

But, I know nothing about mass cylinders or hydraulic whatevers.

Are they parts that I would have to replace or would they be "repaired?"

If it is something i need to replace, how much does it cost? Where can i buy them? Suggest any places to buy them?

Is it something I can fix at Joe's Mechanic Shop, or would I have to go to an Audi Specialist shop?

I have a good deal at a random Mechanic shop place, and would prefer not towing my car to beach house imports for 250 dollars

    TY!!!!!

Hey guys, Ive been doing more research and found these slave and master cylinders. Of which, I had no idea that they looked like this. Do you think If i give these two parts to a mechanic and tell them to replace my old ones, that i will be good to go? What other factors should i assess and take into account?

    Thanks!

Bring it to a specialist to access the problem properly and then go forward and let him repair it.

Re: Clutch Stuck in Replaced at 60k

Okay... Foolishly, and also out of total neglect to audipotential's well founded advice, I went to a Joe Shmoe's Mechanic shop. And, they told me to replace the clutch even though i said it was replaced and still grabbing well prior to the incident.

And the shop is charging me $25 dollars a day to house my car there while my parts are gettign shipped to me.

Basically, I told them that i want to replace the clutch slave and master cylinders and see how that goes.

    The dealer is charging me:

    150 for clutch master cylinder
    140 for clutch slave cylinder

anyone have any good websites i can order them from?

    ECS tuning is a negative..

    TY!
