B5 S4 Axles

hello another stupid tech question

im doing a engine swap im using a 01 6spd engine but will be converting it to a auto/tip. can i use the axles from the 6spd? or do i need axles for a auto?

I though I remember hearing that the transmissions dont mate up from 6spd to auto and visa verse the have a different input shaft hole. I could be wrong but a buddy had a tip and blew the engine he went to a junk yard and they tried to install a 6 spd motor and ended up giving his car back in a million pieces since it wouldn't work.

yeah i was told that i would need to do some mods to make the engine and tip tranny work 2gether.

its a lot easier and cheaper to learn than to go tip. Not to mention you'll be faster too...better gas mileage etc.

no i rather have a tip. not to sound like a pu**y but can't do a 6spd

yo if you want to learn to drive stick find a rental agency who rents out manual cars haha its not hard man just takes practice...plus tips are slow lol

I 6sp is way more fun. Stick is easy to learn. Tip is weak.

I 6sp is way more fun. Stick is easy to learn. Tip is weak.

i just can't get the 6spd for some reason. however it's easy for me on my R1

keep up us updated on how things go and if you run into any problems. i know someone wanted to swap a tip into a ssix speed and ran into more than he could handle. But really for the future, six speed isnt tough to learn.

dude seriously if you can drive ur r1 then you can drive a 6-speed, its basically the same mechanic's. You will be disappointed with a tip. What are you having a problem with?

I will make a promise to you guys. the next time i come across another S4 that is a 6spd im all over it. I feel like im the child and you guys are my parents forcing me to do something that i dont wanna do

if ur just cruizing then tip is fine. 6-speeds break like a mo fo, im on my second rebuild in 18k miles. (first when i got it, second after my x-wife drove it).

ok just spent $287.00 at the dealer for bolts today!! Bell housing, Torque Con, and others... now im wishing that i made the car a 6spd!!! however things are looking good so far?

As of yesterday one of my customers with a 08 BMW 3 series 6spd taught me. I learned under an hour (the basis) now im kicking myself in the ass b/c it wasn’t that hard to learn

Now i pray that i run into another 6spd S4 at the auction.
