I Finally got my A4 on a Dyno. [Pics and Video]

So I took a little trip to Portland earlier this weekend and I had a chance to get over to PDX Tuning and threw my A4 up on their AWD dyno.


I made 178 AWHP and 227 ft/lbs Torque on my best runs.


Engine mods:
Mystery tune/chip
3 in turbo back exhaust (All Custom with Magnaflow resonator and muffler)
Intake cone filer bolted directly up to the MAF
Baileys Motorsport DV


Some of you might know that my car has a mystery tune. It was a couple months after I bought it when I got a boost gauge, and though I thought the car was stock I was boosting something like 16-18 psi. So I have to assume that I have some sort of tune.

I felt pretty damn good about the power I made, especially considering I don't really know what kind of tuning I have. What kind of power have other people made with stock turbo and similar mods? Im so fucking curious...

PDX is awesome I had one of their custom Cobb maps on my WRX and it ripped. Nice numbers by the way.

Im much less worried about what chip I have now that I had it dyno'd. I made pretty good power IMO for my mods. so what ever, Its pretty quick.

what the crap i've seen similarly modded 1.8t's pull like 170tq and 130hp (yes, chipped!) these engines are so finicky

those are good numbers i can't wait to get my car dyno'd just to see what it puts down

Well thats almost impossible to tell becasue its just a AMD chip that was used for the tune. Maby just a local company from where it purchased. I got a TAP so anything can be better than this thing.

Its actually a stock chip that has been re-soldered to the ECU. Or at least thats what Ive been told.

By comparison mine did 170whp on my Gtech.

This was with a GIAC chip, knn, baileys, and borla exhaust w/ one muffler removed.

My G tech meter doesnt display tq, its the older one (Im going to get the new one with the graph)

But based on the seat of the pants, 220 would seem right, its extremely torquey.

It was on a Mustang dyno. I heard myths of 250awhp from some killer k03 setups.... but I do believe that Im making alot more power than most of the other k03 guys.

Ive never really seen why or how it could hurt.

plus the real reason I did 3'' was because I bought the car knowing that I will eventually be putting on a bigger turbo, so I figure do it right the first time.

Here's a comparison dyno. Mods are chip, neuspeed exhaust, EvoMS Intake, Clutch w/ LWFW, N75H. I put down 183.90whp and 245.75 lb.ft torque on my first run, but the two other runs seem more realistic. 2nd run was 177.57whp and 229.53 lb. ft. torque. You're numbers are pretty good!

No Im not 100% sure at all. But that is so unlikely, its hard for me to even entertain the idea of that being in the slightest relm of possibility.

for comparison i did 193ahwp 232wtq at momentum in CT with GIAC/Borla/EvoMS/Aquamist/and an MBC when my old clutch was slipping

my theory about the K04 is that since it is pushed to its limit, that if the car its on isnt running 100%, power/performance suffers tremenously.

for instance, my car dyno'd 195whp at AWE with a stock exhaust, stock airbox and stock intercooler on the plain K05 program.
My EPL dyno numbers are much higher (220whp), and IIRC on that day a PC16 with all the mods only dyno'd 185ish whp.

What PSI did you set the MBC to?

sounds like a pretty mean little K03..
