Wheel Spacers for RS4 - need help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok so im told hubcentric are the way to go...? use them on the street but dont use on track as creates more stress etc , so remove for track? sound right?

Also, while using spacers for street only i will need longer wheel bolts....?

If this is the case where do i get the longer ones from , does one thread fit all?

I don't know about the track and stress situation, but you will need longer bolts with spacers 3mm and up!!

Your spacer will come with the bolts. Also almost all spacers are hubentric for the car that you order them for.

Not all spacers come with longer bolts (some do, some don't) and only 20mm or bigger are hubcentric.

You might be right there, I got a set of 10mm spacers on my Maxima and they slide right over the hub centers. There is still enough original hub to center the wheel.

My bad, thanks for the correction.

H&R's are hubcentric from 8mm up. I have H&R 10mm F&R and I'm getting some steering vibration from 60-70 mph. Had my front wheels checked for balance as well. Going back down down to 8mm spacers which my car seems to like better.

I'm sure your right, I had 5mm H&R that were not.

    BTW, I ment 10mm, H&R box reads 20mm kit.

H&R are hubcentric from 8mm up. On my B6 A4, I had 8mm H&R spacers on my front (longer bolts were noot included) and 15mm MTM spacers that came with longer bolts. No vibration and an agressive look ...

Love that avant, clean and simple.

The black Futrell RS4 in "the official RS4 pic" thread has 10mm spacers, you could also look for the picture thread he posted and pm the owner. He owns/runs two performance tuning shops. One in Portland OR the other in Bellevue WA.

Okay ... I am intrigued ... I too have 10 mm and have steering wheel vibration ... did you transition to 8's and did the situation improve?? OEM or aftermarket wheels?

Well I drove mine on the freeway last night after putting on the 8mm H&R spacers and there is the most faint of vibrations. Compared to the 10mm spacers though it's almost not there. With the 10's it was visible if you took your hands off the wheel going between 60-65 mph. My tires balance perfectly. Who knows maybe it's the rotors but I kinda doubt it at 2,500 miles.

Having said that the H&R 8mm spacer are seated perfectly to my stock wheels. They are conical hubcentric and they also have a lip that extends from the conical seat that fits into the inside of the wheel. It's hard to explain but if you look at both the 8mm and the 10mm you'd see that the 8mm spacers are the better of the two for our stocks wheels.

That's it! I've heard too many bad stories with vibration and the H&R spacer. I'm def going to go with the MTM's. Sorry that you guys have to go through this. That shouldn't be the case as H&R is supposed to be a great company with great products.

I'd have to see them but I can't imagine that the MTM's would be any better.

I asked DPE and Eric over at Supreme Power to ship me some new ones / thinner to see if that has the improving / desired affect. Thanks ... I will report back ... oh, and mine insert into the wheel hub too like you describe.

There was another member here or on audiworld that had vibration issues with H&R spacers and switched them out to MTM's and it solved the problem. I forget where I read this.
