    ---=== Salvage title question ===---

    Hey guys.
Have a question about salvage title: Does anyone of u have a salvage title on the car? Is it some major problems with the car or something?
Iam asking cause planning to buy an a4 salvaged and then repair it (iam not a mechanic btw). When mechanic going to repair the car i will ask him to change timing bell and fuel pump anyway. Do i need to ask him to change some extra parts???

    Thanks for comments ! ! !

cars get salvaged titles for different scenarios. why the a4 in question you're looking at has a salvage title is the big question. let us know, then well get back to you.

Answer is very simple: is the price. I cant afford a4 in regular price, thats to expensive for me. I have an access to copart.com, so i can bid on a car by myself, but to repair a car i need a mechanic. So thats y. :)

be extremely careful buying a car with a salvage title.

not usually a good idea. there are very few cars out there with a salvage title that are equal in condition to the same car with clear title. i never say never. but learn about the history, or my suggestion is dont buy. cars are enough trouble even when the title is clear.

I don't know man... If you don't have the cash for a used B7 yet, it may be a better decision to purchase an older Audi or perhaps a used VW with 4motion.

There are other brands that make kick ass cars for cheaper too, if you're willing to break from the vag ladder
    Ignorance is bliss.

The point is that the car i wanna buy is after an accident (not repaired). My mechanic is going to fix and do all work on it.

About vw cars, i dont. At first i was interesting in buying golf (20th anniversary), but later on i changed my mind. And now everything that iam interesting is A4.

I had a salvaged car once. It was a '76 Camaro and a complete POS on the outside. The car ran like a demon and never lost a drop of oil. Only issues I had were the body repairs, the interior rebuild, suspension and tires. So, overall the car cost me a lot more in the long run than an unsalvaged title would.

If it was salvaged because of flood your problems will never end.

I used to have an acces to copart.com too. They got different cars with Salvage Titles. A lot of them are from Florida with a water flood/damage. You better show that car to a mechanic before buying ( if u decided to) so he can tell you what to fix... But you never know what to expect, you dont know what is wrong with a car. Good Luck.

I've owned 3 flood salvaged cars including this A4 and never had any major problems with any of them.

I still own the 325i I bought 3 years ago and the only thing I needed to replace was the seat controls. That car ran solid and still runs strong.

My B7 was in a fresh water flood and fortunately it wasn't that high of a flood. I needed to replace the convenience control module and it was good to go. I paid $15k for a 06 A4 with premium package and 7k miles last year. At worst if it needed a new transmission they go for $1500 all day long at most salvage yards and I'd $16.5k deep into a car that does everything it needs to do.

I've seen water damaged a4's on ebay and a couple have stated that the transmission needed replacement due to irratic downshifting. If it's a 6 speed manual then you'd have less to worry about.

BTW don't buy one unless you're fixing it yourself, otherwise if something were to break you'd obviously be knee deep in labor fees.

The only reason I wouldn't mind buying another one is the fact that theres no labor involved in the repairs.

:) I heard bad stuff about copart too. My father has Toyota highlander got his car from a copart. He drives his car alredy for 3 months, and no problems right (but who knows whats going to be later).
Iam not worried about selling, cause like in a year, car will be shipped to europe.

Btw sorry guys for my poor english writing, iam just couple years in us. hehe Sorry again.

Hey your english is alot better than alot of people here. some people who come here don't even plan on learning english at all.. and yours is very understandable so you're goood

so before you make the decision on buying a salvage, make sure you think long and hard about it.. there's alot of risks not to mention. ALOT. it may even end up costing you more than what you would've paid for a newer one as said in above posts. please keep that in mind. you don't want your car stalling in the middle of the road all the time or have a leak while on a trip far away from your mechanic. that's just plain inconvenient.
