Yes, that's right, there were no USP's in 2003. I couldn't wait to buy a 2004 for the USP so I bought a loaded 1.8T quattro sport and did the conversion. All Audi parts, no screws, glue, or zip ties. GIAC chip, Neuspeed Race Springs on OEM Sport suspension. 18" VMR RS4 Reps with 235/40 F and 255/35 R. Exhaust and RS4 sway next.

    Re: My 2003 "USP"

Wow, that is sweet. I love the black PA D.A.R.E plate, too. I went to order one last week and just about cried when I realized that PA switched to a crappy white/blue/yellow DARE plate. Not.

Anyway, I have an '04 1.8t quattro and I'd like to start converting it over to the USP look. Can someone recommend a source for both S4 and USP doorblades?

    Thanks,

    jp

    Re: My 2003 "USP"

The blades are S4 actually bought on this site. I figured if i'm doing blades, go big. The rims are 18x8.5 front and rear and to answer the sidewall question, it's more of a consideration of the overall rolling diameter of the front tires versus the rear where the quattro drivetrain is concerned. There's good info on this subject on this forum if you search. Also this site helps to calculate for different setups: http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp. I had these tires from a gti that I had before with a staggered setup and it was a waste not to use the tires up. When the rears are shot, I will put on 235/40 on the back as the car already understeers. Maybe the RS4 sway will help. Thanks for the complements. I owe the look to many on here and A4mods for ideas and DIY's especially the DIY front USP lower with stock upper and the rear rebar mod. Thanks again.

All body parts came from the dealer except for the blades which were bought on this site. On the exhaust tip comment: I'm taking suggestions for the cat-back. I've read lots of opinions on here but a few more won't hurt. I don't want a system that is quiet or "ricey". I had a techtonics stainless with Borla muffler on a VR6 GTI. I realize this is a 4 cylinder through a turbo, but if you've heard the techto/borla ovn a VR6, you know what I'm going for.

Magnaflow setup is pretty popular here. It's not too quiet and not ricey sounding. It's got a nice deep tone/growl to it. You can check out some clips here: http://www.1point8turbo.com/Magnaflow.html

As in my earlier post, I'm at work right now, but I'll see if I can break the whole project cost down part by part when I get home tonight. I've had a great relationship with my vw/audi dealer for almost 20 years so my pricing is pretty good.

check that out. only for the exhaust sound. that is the apr sport catback with the cat-delete. the sound does it for me. there's no drone inside the car and cant hear it at idle, and when driving normal, it's actually quite pleasant. when you get on it, it comes alive!

    Re: My 2003 "USP"

For those of you that want to know the cost, the parts were as follows:

Front Lower Bumper: reg 235.15 me 188.12
Rear Upper: reg 702.70 me 562.16
Rear Lower: reg 230.50 me 184.40
Center Grill: reg 180.97 me 144.78
Left Grill: reg 40.57 me 32.46
Right Grill: reg 40.57 me 32.46
Rear Alum. trim: reg 44.94 me 28.30

This is about a 20% discount from the dealer. Good relationships pay off!

I bought the rear wing from a friend at a good price. He had it sprayed Dolphin Grey for someone else who backed out so I just had it resprayed.

All parts were painted including side lowers for additional $$$. The rest was just blood sweat and Dremel.
