    Please! Someone Help!

Well i've got an '02 3.0 with about 90k clicks on it. I haven't had any problems with it until yesterday. When I started it up it sounded kind of weird so I let it warm up and it sounded like the car was about to die and it was shuddering a little bit. I took it for a quick drive around the block and my acceleration was delayed and then the car would start shaking. it had an especially hard time making it up the hill. I have had a check engine light that comes on and goes away and then comes on again and now it has been staying on.

Anyone know what is going on? Is this going to be a pricey fix??

Dont pay anyone! Do it yourself.

    Theyre about 40 bucks each.

Just pull off the oh so cool Audi shield ontop of the head by sticking in a screwdriver to the three screws and yanking while unscrewing.

The four coils each have a tab on the connector. Just slide the tab back with a flat head screwdriver till it clicks. then you can yank off the connection to the coil. Then just pull up on the coil and itll pop up and out. Repeat four times

With a scan tool you can figure out which cylinder is misfiring (numbering is 1 2 3 4 from the timing chain to the firewall) but otherwise yes, you have to try each cylinder in sequence to get it right. Careful with the yanking part though - you don't want to crack the top part as it'll pooch the coilpack.

not to be annoying but he has a 3.0 which has 6 coilpacks xD lol , not 4. but yes just go to the audi dealer and buy them i got mine around $36 each, it helps to say you work at a mechanic shop so you can get a discount. (just my 2cents) you should always carry spare coilpacks

its the same basic idea, you just have 2 heads and theyre angled to the side... figure out which cylinder has the blown coil, unclip it from the harness, pull it out, and put the new one in

    Re: Please! Someone Help!

Only if the 3.0 were so easy.... There are 2 screws hold a plastic wiring cover over the coils, and they are a MotherF to get out. They're torx 20, and those have to be removed if you want if you want to get the coils out. I Found it to be easy for the Passenger side to remove the upper airbox assembly to gain access. The Driver side is not that bad, just have to unscrew by move around some stuff in your way i.e. brake lines for abs. Once there unscrewed, you have two options, 1. the wiring covers are split in two pieces, you have unclip them apart. and remove coil one by one. Or you can pull all three up and just unclip them and slide the whole cover out of the way. Once you have found which coil is missfiring, You be set. Pass side of engine is Coils 1,2,3 drivers side 4,5,6 all starting from front of the car back. any more Problems or help PM me please Thanks..
