    2000/2001 rear badge on 2001.5

I purchased this car a little over a year ago and have loved every day of it. When I bought it I didn't realized the differences between the build dates of the B5's. I thought that if it had the new badge it was definately 2001 or newer, so the older style badge on the rear was the first thing I asked about. But of course the guy at the dealer couldn't explain.

I have however confirmed all the specs to be 2001.5.
Build date 11/00, no f-hose, m-box, new front badge, new dash badge(on tach)

So, has anyone else seen 2001.5's or newer with the the 2000 style badge on the trunk? Thanks

Re: 2000/2001 rear badge on 2001.5

more than likely someone stole the badge and the dealership doesnt pay attention to detail and just order an s4 badge to slap on.

thats what happened in my case i think. mines an 01.5 but they said the previous owner (older guy)stripped the badges so no one would know it was an s4 and the headlights wouldnt get stolen. sounds legit, but i think it was just stolen...

Some people actually prefer the older badges, my friend did that.

I might be way off, but my first move would be to get the VIN carfax'd.

If it had been in an accident and taken to a not-so-great shop, it's easy to see them mixing up the badges when replacing a trunk.

I had the Carfax when I purchased it. No accidents or incidents whatsoever. I'm the second owner. The First owner Leased it from Stevens Creek Audi (Bay Area), purchased the car when the lease expired and then traded it in back to the dealer when the warranty was up. (That's where I come in...) The car is flawless through and through.
The rear badge is curious, but I actually like it.
No one has heard of them coming this way from the factory???

I'll trade you my old badge from the instrument cluster for your new ones? Mine's an 01.5 but it came with the old badges all around (on of the few built like that).

Trunk/Grill badges are on eBay for about $20 a piece.
