question about the vag-com

i have a obd ll plug it is not a ross-tech that i bought it a few years back when i had my 98 golf vr6 and it worked just fine. now i tried to use it on my 01 A4 and it won't communicate with the car???

would anyone know what might be going on?

Might be a com port issue, or if you are running vista it doesn't seem to work because of the virtual serial to usb port vista uses vs XP. I have to use an XP laptop to get mine to work, no dice on vista unit. Check this thread:
