Making my car more economical - suspension questions with PIC

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys. I have a 2002 Quattro 1.8t. I switched my stock suspension to a Billstein shocks and Neuspeed Race springs about three years ago. I also have 19" wheels. I'm pretty much tired of the dumped look, tired of tires wearing so fast on the inside, and would also like to get better gas mileage.

I was thinking about changing my springs to an aftermarket sport spring or put the stock sport springs on. Which would you guys recommend? How much lower are after market sport springs compared to the factory sport spring?

just get 17s. a stiffer suspension should give you better gas mileage and better life of your brake pads.

yeah you should just get a set of coilovers ... then raise your car up to the height you like, and one which you can get a proper alignment

    keep your 19's

Hmmmm... let's see. Put on my stock sport springs or spend over 1k on coilovers. I just want the car to be more economical without spending so much to attain it. The car is getting old and would like not to spend so much money on it. I just want to know if a sport spring will attain my goal. Thanks for your response.

Re: Making my car more economical - suspension questions with PIC

id leave the suspension set up the way it is. the 19's are not helping your gas mileage and 19 inch tires are sooo expensive. i think sport springs and smaller rims would solve your problem.

if i were in your shoes. i would get smaller wheels. but if you dont like the drop
anymore, go with the stock sports.

I'd say suck it up and leave the car the way it is, cause the shit looks tiiiight! Do you really think changing your wheel size and or suspension set up is going to affect your gas milage that much? ... I don't

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to go with the stock sport springs, if I could find them in the garage somewhere.

The wheels are Axis Milanos. 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear.

Tire wear should not be affected much by lowering the car if your alignment, specifically toe, is correct and to spec

USP Springs are the same as the 03-05 Sport springs. The only "OEM" spring that is lower is the Sport spring from an 02'

Crap. I can't find my stock springs. I might have to look in the classifieds, CL, or ebay.

I didn't know that the sport spring for 03-05 was not as low as the 02. This is good information. Thanks.

Do you guys know if an 06 sport spring will fit my 02?
