    Adjusting Rear Coilovers... help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just had my H&R Coilovers installed along with the front and rear H&R sway bars. pretty sweet ! I need to raise the back a little though and the guy at the shop said I cant do it easily. He mentioned that the spring has to be unloaded to do this !?? that sounds crazy but I just took my rear tire off and took a look. I see the adjuster ring at the bottom of the spring perch. The only think I found online is a guy mentioning that it has to be done with an allen key not the spring adjuster that come with the kit. He mentiones they are only for the front. I do not even see the whole for the allen key and am starting to realize I probably really do have to unload the spring. then what was the damn point of rear coilovers... !

Any help appreciated. I'll post pics soon.

    Re: Adjusting Rear Coilovers... help

Can't help you with H&Rs because I installed Stasis, but I had to do the same thing... For the drivers side I cut the wrench an inch and could raise it without disassembly but for the passenger's side I had to take the spring out to rise it. There's no way to fit the wrench there. Maybe a big ass vise grip or similar if you don't mind scratching the anodized alum.

    Good luck

I just read your response. thank you

OK I have more light this morning and spoke last night with the mechanic again. Definitely NO allen key. Just one adjusting nut on the bottom like yours. Maybe I will get away with cutting the wrench. Good call with that. the other side I will have to detach the arm and pull down to where I can get a wrench in there.... or unload the spring. errrrrrrrrrrrr
