LaminX Front Rear and Fogs Comparison Pics

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After not being sure what exact colors to order I figured I would post this so you guys can get an idea of what the colors look like. The colors I got were..

    Front: Tint
    Rear: Smoke
    Fog: Yellow

Here is the front half way done:

    Close Up on stock front:

    Close Up on tinted front:

Full Front tint..(there is a shadow so appears a little darker here)

    Rear Half way done:

    Rear Close up on smoke:

    Rear full smoked:

Hope this helps anyone trying to make a decision on colors. Its also very easy to do with some soap and water by the way so dont think its to difficult cause it really isnt.

no i just baught the vinyl protectant. The spray bottle is just a normal plastic spray bottle that they sell you so you can fill it up with soap and water to use....but I already had a spray bottle as im sure most of us do.

Re: LaminX Front Rear and Fogs Comparison Pics

The fitment was actually alot better than expected. The fogs are a little small though. The fronts needed very very little trimming and the rears I did not even have to touch they were perfect. It all looks great in person...looks like it came oem like that.

Re: LaminX Front Rear and Fogs Comparison Pics

yea I will try to get some tonight...but just so you know I actually like it better now and the vision seems clearer because instead of the halogens coming out so yellow like now with the tint it comes out like a white xenon. The lights really have not been dimmed at all. If i remember correctly the tint i got only stops about 17% of the light coming out.

You got lucky. I have yet to put mine on yet and the trimming is horrible. Both front and rear need alot of trimming and as of now I don't have the time for that. I might just take it to a tint shop and have them do it for me =\

Looks great! I have the same gunsmoke film on my tails too.

I don't know what variables are involved in the cutouts and if weather affects them growing/shrinking, but I had to do quite a bit of trimming on my tails. It's no big deal though, trimming is extremely easy with a scissors and doesn't take long at all.

You have me thinking about the headlight film now... I'm going for murdered (kinda) so I may have to do the same thing.

Headlights: "tint" is lightest, then "gun smoke" is darker

Taillights: "smoked, or gun smoked" is lighter, then "charcoal" is darkest.

OP got the lightest options for front and back.

Yeah man, dude got me sold on the headlight tint too. I think it goes well with the darker A4's like ours and you should definetly do it if you're going for the "murdered out" look.

I might, and I assume it barely sacrificed any light output if any...

But yeah, I'm going for murdered out with brushed aluminum trim still because I like it!

Re: LaminX Front Rear and Fogs Comparison Pics

    Back to serious questions:

I know Lamin-x is a protective film, and that is it's function for headlights since they won't get all scuffed and fogged up. However, if you run Lamin-x on your headlights for a long time, do rocks and debris ever chew it up? Would one want to replace the film after 2 years or whatever?
    Ignorance is bliss.

It really does not change light output at all. If anything I like it better now because the halogens dont look yelloy anymore...the light comes out white so I can actually see a cleaner/clearer road at night.

I baked my headlights last thursday with no hesistation. Watch out for the way you knock out the amber piece, mine was stuck so hard to the housing I broke a piece of the clip holding onto the screw it was no biggie though.
