RS4 or S4 sway bar upgrade?

I just installed the RS4 rear sway bar (22mm) from my 18mm; now I'm not sure if I did the right thing. What are you guys installing? What's the downside of such a massive rear swaybar (besides fitting the f#$@ing bushings) ?

i haven't done this yet.. so i'm running stock suspensions.
I was thinking such a drastic change without coilovers might do damage to the car.
But i see you're running Stasis SS+ rs4 and i'm going to do the same setup and see how it is or tone it down to s4 20mm.

I installed one with my stock sports suspense and I could not be happier with it. It definetly makes a big difference in that handling. Someone with more understanding could tell you the downside but functionally I have found no downside. I have a reiview in the Chatter box section under "my first mod" or something like that. I don't see how you could have done the wrong thing personally. The A4 needs a stiffer bar to handle better and you installed the right one. Have confidence that you did the right thing. For the price its one of the best mods there is in my opinion.

yeah....it's the best bang for the buck. But if you're gonna do it do it soon...once audi catches on that it's a hot item they'll raise the price. It's happened before.

Adding a thicker rear sway bar can not do any damage. All it's going to do is stiffen up the rear end by keeping it level.

It's really funny, I had a 28mm rsb on my first VW Golf, and if I jacked up one side of the rear, the entire rear end would lift up perfectly level lol.

I just did a lil test drive and took a long fast turn (about 120°); took it 'fast'. Great grip really and my tail tried to slip out when I pushed it, but very controllable; remembers me of my miata days - handled like a RWD. Coming back I took the turn a tad slower and it turned like on rails. I'M HAPPY!!

My concern of going from 18 to 22mm was 'if the sway bar mounts would take the extra stress' ... time will tell

. btw my buddy(who works at audi) got me some rs4 tranny bolts which are longer than the stock sway bar bolts. It makes it easier to get the brackets back on.

The only downside I am having is the damn squeaking!!! Ugh sounds like a little mouse is hiding under my car every time I drive. It just started happening and I've had it on for like 8 months

did you try to lube the mounts? that might help, although im no expert

yea I did but it wore off. This is going to be a pain if I have to keep doing it over and over

I have it as well. Definitely improved my handling with the sports suspension. You need to lubricate the hell out of the bushings to prevent any squeaking. I think some of the problems stem from reusing the brackets for the stock bar. Not sure if you can buy larger brackets (S4/Rs4) that work. Its still a great upgrade for the money.

This helps none, but mine don't squeal/squeek at all and I got the idea from the guys that put it on that you really have grease them alot whey you put it on.

the brackets for the north american rs4 are the same as the a4....the european brackets are larger. The s4 has a smaller bar so the brackets may be smaller but i"m not sure about that.

You still have the RS4 sway bar. I am interested if you are willing to part with it. Just starting to add some things to my car and this might be a good addition since I am stock s-line suspension right now.

I put the 20mm H&R adjustable on my car, replacing the 16mm stocker. I'm using the stiffest setting, and really like this mod a lot. Feels like the back half of the car is working. About 5000 miles w/o problems or squeaks.
