    Turbo leak: how to check?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
On a previous thread, I was asking what are the possibilities to lose about 1 liter of engine oil within 2-3 months. I checked under the engine area, there was nothing. Someone mentioned to check the Turbo for leaks. Problem is I dont know how to check that, yet.

Could someone direct me how to check if the Turbo has leaks which would cause eating the oil from the engine? Any picture or detailed steps will greatly help since I know almost nothing about Turbos (yet I have one)

    Car is 02 A4 1.8T

oh, and thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Turbo leak: how to check?

I've got this exact issue right now. 1qt every 2-3 months and I got a visual on mine 3 weeks ago while doing timing belt job after taking off my front end I got about 1/4 cup oil in my turbo intake piping. You're gonna want to disconnect the inlet pipe coming from your turbo down to the front of the car(not at the turbo but at the front of the car) and if its anything like my you should just have to run your finger inside there and find the oil. The only thing you should need is a turbo rebuild kit from $45-85 depending where and what comes with it. My concern now is do I rebuild or just upgrade?!?!?!?!?

turbo seals... and you won't have any signs except around the inside of the compressor housing, intake track, and all vac/boost lines in-between. Start turbo-shopping with BryMFL...
