All i know is that it needs to be done because all that damn heat from the turbo and heat temperatures in general destroy all of the rubber hoses. I am not sure if there is an upgrade to use something else besides rubber??

ecstunning selling all kinda replacements, i just dont know how much i need and where are all of them go, obviously i can replace hoses that are on top but im sure there is way more hidden somewhere else. So far im set on buying turbo hoses by Samco, vacum line maybe 10 feet just in case, and breather hoses from ECS

Re: Replacing all rubber/hose components, any inputs??

I got the vacuum lines from VW dealer. ON my wifes 2004 Passat this are out of full rubber, not the cloth type anymore. Picked up 2 meter what was enough for a 3.0 engine.
A little tip, always cut the old hose on the fittings and kind a turn them off to limit the risk of damaging your fittings. And do one hose after the other to prevent mixup.
Should take you 2-3 hours if you take your time.
    Good luck.

Replace your vacuum lines with 100% silicon lines. The factory ones become brittle and crack. Silicon ones can withstand the heat. Try McMaster Carr.

Re: Replacing all rubber/hose components, any inputs??

Hmm. I was going to order 20' of silver 3.5mm SVH from hose techniques. Is that too much? It seems that 10' won't be enough and I'd rather have extra, even if it isn't the cheapest.

I was planning on doing just the 3.5mm using zipties to hold it on. If anyone has some other sizes I can do at the same time, please post.

I know I remember posting about this before. Look what the search button revealed:

Re: Replacing all rubber/hose components, any inputs??

As this are vacuum lines, you will not need to clam them nessesary. The original are not clamper either but a nice tight fit. as mentioned I got 2 meter (6 feet) of the silicon based from VW for approx. 15$/meter. Most of my longer lines are connecting to some solid plastic hoses, what seems to withstand the heat better. So yes if you intent to do all the lines out of one piece you will need suggnificant more silicon rubber lines.

You can check the part list out on the below link. It also gives you an idea where the hoses go. You might need to sign up for it to see the drawing, but it's free anyway.

Re: Replacing all rubber/hose components, any inputs??

Thanks, dougyfresh. I pride myself on being adept at search strings but missed that one I guess - probably due to the thread title.

Hmm, 4mm - ECS has the stock hose dimensions at 3.5mm. I doubt it will make much of a difference, though. I'll be using zip ties in lieu of the single-use clamps. Lastly, I came across that site for hose but flinched at the $ for silver.

Thanks for the vagcat link, bavaria75. I already have an account so that was easy.

I can't wait for some warmer weather.
