Now explain to me why a mild detergent like Seafoam can harm and engine parts if it has been used for many years. i used it in my uncles 1988 mbz 560sel and throttle response and smoothness was much better, and if anything it felt healthier, so what are we losing, dirt?
i think the argument against seafoam in the crankcase is that it could act too quickly, basically dislodging chunks of whatever it's cleaning, allowing those chunks to possibly block flow in (maybe critical) places. auto-rx is supposed to clean just as well (or better) nice and slow in it's 2000 mi clean and rinse cycles. if these forums are anything to go by, i don't remember anyone tracing issues back to seafome.
i've seafoamed via gastank. it made the butt-dyno happy, but it could have been placebo. i haven't done the manifold thing, but again, people here seem happy with it. when i get time, i may do it, along with maybe the maf cleaning, iridium plugs, blah blah blah. lets' face it, for most of us, we just like tinkering
