Do I Need a Boost Guage?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So basically, i am going to do an APR Stage II upgrade from stock and i want to know whether or not i should have a boost guage installed as well. The people at the dealer that i talked to said that it was advisable, but not really 100% needed. I have a friend who has a modded tt Stage II with some other upgrades as well and he doesnt run with a boost guage (has had the mods for a few years now and no problems). So my question is, is it really that necessary?

if you track probably... boost, oil pressure, fuel pressure...
if you just like to rip it up on freeways then not really.

if you track on a regular basis, it's a must. your gonna need the basic essentials: boost, a/f, oil pressure, and oil temp. otherwise, no need.

You don't need a boost guage but its nice to have one as a diagnostic tool. I don't have one and I often wonder is my car boosting correctly? Sometimes the car feels slower and i wonder if I have a leak or a DV failure etc. If you had a boost gauge you can always watch it to see if you are boosting correctly.

So I will be getting one soon.

Re: Do I Need a Boost Guage?

Not only is it really neat to have, but I do always worry if I'm boosting correctly. I bought one right after I bought my car, but haven't installed it yet lol... it's too cold out

Re: Do I Need a Boost Guage?

I would reccomend one as a diagnostic tool. I had one for a brief period of 2 days. lol. (got broken during shipping) and was able to see that my car was not boosting well at all and ended up having a loose DV that I got fixed and the PCV was bad (saw the oil shortly after) I am planning on getting a new one as soon as UPS refunds the money for breaking the other one!!
