S6 avant Questions

I was looking for some info about the 2002/2003 S6 avant (with the 4.2 V8).

It was offered both of those years right? But, was there any differences between the two models?

What were all the exterior colors offered?

Was there any options on the trim (I have seen only the darker wood grain, any thing else offered, different wood grain colors, or plain without wood grain maybe)?

I saw where someone posted the stats of about 800 sold in 02 and 400 in 03, is that accurate?

As far as i know the options were offered: Alcantera interior, Heated rear seats, Solar sunroof, Sunshades for backseats, On Star.
The production numbers are more or less acurate.
Both years are same. No difference exept for ECU and some other parts you wouldnt know or care about.

You would be surprised at what I care about.

What differences with the ecu, just part number or further change (for example if someone was trying to get a performance reflash would the year matter on availability)?

Also, do you know if it was offered in all the colors the standard A6 avant in 02/03 was offered in? If so what were those colors for those two years?

Also kingof, are you completely happy with your S6 avant?

How do you feel about its performance? I am looking for a four door wagon because of my expanding needs, but I am use to the fun factor of driving my 03 vw gti with all the upgrades.

I love A6 avants (especially the C6 models, I hate to see what the do to ruin the next model) but haven't driven the 03 S6 avant yet, but I feel it may be the better choice for me (money and performance wise).

yes. when i went to get the GAIC chip they told me they dont have it for my ecu number. sucks.

I actually found quite a few for sale online (ebay/autorader/etc).

I myself love all audi wagons, I just think the S4 Avant (all A4's) are a little small for want I want/need, except maybe those new B8's, but I don't see one of those ending up in my drive way.

The S6 Avant is a car you don't mind traveling to purchase so there is def. some options out there. That is why I was trying to figure out what colors were offered.

Only 2 interior colors black or silver.

All ecu were the same from what I know 03 dident have pass side seat memory,not sure what else they did away with in 03.

dash carpet head linner are all black if you have silver interior it has silver head linner alacantera, silver inserts in the door cards.
I have had mine for close to 15k now and had to replace the brake light switch that is all car has 72k right now it has lots of power but wont be as fun as a gti stick on the back roads.The s is a big car and it will move fast its the car the a6 avant should have always been I had a 99 a6 avant and it was slow this is the motor that car should have had.
Good look finding one they are rare as you stated there were only 1200 total for 02 03 Im in Ga and have only ever seen 2 on the road since 02.

Yeah, I did find those pdfs, good info in there, they still didn't tell me color/trim/interior options.

Out of all those colors listed above I have yet to see a white one (for sale or not), wonder if that was an unpopular color for that model.

The silver leather is nice, good two tone look.

there isent any more to know very few options on the cars if you have questions post them we can try to answer them for you
I have seen a few white for sale its the audi peal white like the a8 and also polar white
light silver seems to be the popular color
The wood in all cars was gray polished birch

Lots of help guys, thanks. Lots of good info here. I just need to find one local enough to test drive and keep my eye out for a white one with the silver leather (if that combo exist, I think that would be the best look to me).

I just picked up a Pearl White '02 with Black Leather and Alcantara with 50K miles on it for low-mid 20's. It's got an excellent service history and is in amazing condition. I can't comment on long term reliability so far but hopefully the above helps.

The pearl white paint is a beautiful and rare color and was a $1,200 option I believe. If you can find one, grab it!

Mine has 60K on it, and still OK, some mornings holds gears a little longer, after completely warmed up it's fine. Just look out, thermostats go out on these cars at 60K like clock work. I bet if you take a poll, you will find that 80% of the owners on here will contest 55k-65K, and it is not a cheap fix. Good luck, it is truly an awesome rare car, I love mine, and hardly drive my Stage 3 S4 anymore, but as gas quickly hits $4.00 in So Cal, I might be soon LOL!!!
