    a4 & c-class comparison?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello fellow a4 owners,

May I know what made you pick the Audi B7 A4 over the MB C-class? I tried to do a search but 'a4 vs c-class' is too short of a description.

    Thank you.

IMO MB has just lost alot of reputuation over the years, S Class or AMG then it isnt worth it.

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

My experience was only with the last gen C, but the newer magazine reviews seem to concur- the A4 places more emphasis on sport, while the C is more focused on luxury. Even when comparing the sport version of the C to the A4, the A4 comes up the winner for drivers who want a sedan that acts more like a sports car.

Subjectively, the C is quieter, smoother, and more like a big car. It just depends on what you're after. Living in Seattle and if you are a skier, Quattro will crush the Benz in any inclement weather.
"Obsessed" is a word that the lazy use to describe the committed.

MB is for the older crowd. I looked at one.

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

Which C are you comparing ?

    I had the W203 C320 (Coupe) Before the B7 A4

The C320 V6 was a lot more refined, the interior finish is decent (with the metal sport trim) but in terms of handling and the "fun" factor, the B7 A4 wins hands down. More "sportier" interior. One thing though, the paint on the B7 SUCKS... tons of stone chips on the hood, so I can see how thin the paint is compared to the C... the C's paint job was way nicer..

Other than that.. the B7 has more toys to customize it =)

Is this a serious question? LoL

Mer-oldeez Benz < Audi, hands down. Plus, we can laugh at all the Benz drivers freezing their asses off at Chain Control while we cruise by in our Quattro pimpness.

I think the paint on our cars is pretty thick. I drive on the highway every day and have one chip after 9 months. Maybe I'm just lucky.

No question, theyre vulnerable to chips, which is why you gotta go with the must-have ClearShield from 3M. Best $8 addition to my monthly finances I've ever made! (It costs about $600-$900, depending on where you get it done.)

You may also find it called a ClearBra, but just search around either this forum or use the all-powerful Google and look it up.

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

My main reason was Quattro, since we get a lot of bad weather here.

The 2.0t fsi was a really exciting, innovative engine when it first came out, and previously owning a 1.8t I had to have the 2.0t.

I'm only 21 so the A4 appealed to me since it was much sportier too. I'm kind of hooked on vag products (so brand loyalty too) and I also like modding and going fast, and I couldn't really see that in a MB. My dad always buys MB cars and they're great, but they're more for relaxing and cruising.

Plus I ski and the cold weather package comes with a ski bag for the trunk
    Ignorance is bliss.

I went and looked at new 2008 C300's. They had the most boring interiors I've ever seen. The radio is god awful, a digital "dial" type display.

    I dig the exteriors though.

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

I will admit, the exterior is pretty clean.........

Only problem I have is there's so little as far as modding for the exterior of a Benz, most of the drivers think rims count as body work. Those are all I ever see different on the outside of a Benz, and they're usually some ugly-ass overchromed set that give it the stance of a 4x4.

As far as the feel of the car on the road, I'd say that BMW and Audi are more sporty and MB is quickly going the direction of Cadillac with its mushy ride/handling and older-folk appeal.

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

W204.. forget it.. horrible materials in the interior.. 7speed audo is junk

don't even bother comparing it to an A4, it's not even worth the MB brand

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

i own the new C-class. The ride is very quiet and comfortable, and it has more power than A4 in stock. Handling wise, it is better than A4 I have to say. But A4 has stick, quattro and lots of room for mod. I personally think C-class has a much better look than B7 A4. And since B8 A4 is coming out, if I were you, I would either buy a C-class now or wait for the B8.

No offense bro, but my point exactly To each their own, however!

Also, where'd you get the idea that the Benz is faster stock? Check these numbers:

    2008 Mercedes C-300 V6 w/ 7 speed auto:
HP: 224 listed Curb Weight: 3,560 lbs

    power to weight ratio (horsepower:pounds) = 0.0629213483146

    2008 Audi A4 3.2 V6 w/ 6 speed auto:
HP: 255 listed Curb Weight: 3,649 lbs

    power to weight ratio (horsepower:pounds) = 0.0698821594958

    Re: a4 & c-class comparison?

I know your comparing the new C class but wanted to toss in my 2 cents. I had a C230K sedan with a 6 spd manual trans. The car had less power than my 2.0T audi and was obviously rear wheel drive. The fit and finish including interior materials were not up to Audi standards. However, handling and performance in dry weather I think was better than my B7 A4. The C230K had the sport suspension, staggered wheels and summer tires which made it handle really well in the dry weather. Plus the weight distribution was better not having the engine hanging so far ahead of the front axle. That said it was a nightmare in rain and snow. I like the A4 because it works in any weather and the interior is really nice. No cheap plastic parts like the benz. The new MB C class is ugly IMO. I don't like the new lines of the car with so many strange angles. And if you want to compare the B8 to the new C then I think the Audi wins hands down. Many of the faults of the B7 have been addressed in the new model and you get some additional interior room. Best of luck...
