Pic request- FMIC behind stock bumpers

x2, I'm going FMIC sometime, but want a stock bumper. I can't afford an S4/RS4 bumper and paint.

I think im going godspeed from ebay but there is 2 different core sizes, small and pretty big. dont know how much cutting of bumper is involved. Just installed that kit on my friends b5 and it looks sick but he has s4 front bumper. He had to have the support but and welded back in to fit it at the shop i work at becasue he went with the big core.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the racetec FMIC fits stock bumper with no problems.

The core should not be bigger than 2.5 inches to fit behind the stock bumper.

This past weekend i installed a front mount i bought from just-intercoolers on ebay. The overall size was 27x6x2.5. I used 2 inch piping. I got everything behind the stock bumper with no trimming of the metal bumper support at all. I did have to trim a bunch of plastic ,and shaved down the backside of the stock grilles to make them fit back on. I will try and post pics later.

The nub on the IC on the passenger side pushes the valence down a little, but I've since put a small hole there. Not really noticeable.

The S4 has the most room behind it for FMIC out of all the bumpers.

I had the fogs out already and never tried to put them back in. One was busted and the other was beat up. I don't know if they'd fit, I didn't really think about it.

mine fit ok behind the stock bumper, but there was no way in hell i could keep the little grills. the fogs worked no problem though.

195k miles, lots of highway, an accident years ago that should have gotten the fog light replaced from housing damage. The one plug connection was kind of flakey and didn't get much better despite several attemps at fixing it (light would intermittently not come on). Then a rock took one of the lenses out and I had had enough. I don't need them.

Thanks. I really like them. My OEM 15s with all-season tires weigh 41lbs and the CLKs with Toyo Proxes 4 225/50 weigh 38lbs. I can fit my A8 brake upgrade and they don't hurt acceleration a great deal.

It would still work installed the correct way, you just have to cut more of the rebar so that all of that fmic fits up inside the bumper.
Problem with running it upside down like you have it is that air takes the shortest path and heat rises, so now the heat has no where to go but stay right on the core between the inlet and outlet.

ya it really pissed me off that i had to mount it upside down, but i wasnt about to cut that much out of my rebar. like i said i was planning on it being a 6" core

it looks like the piping has to bend really early or go low to get around the fog lights.

are those the only options for those that want to keep them?

I ended up redoing my piping and the bend is VERY EARLY, that is the ONLY way to clear for fog lights that I can see.
