Totally sucks. Never had this problem with US Postal Service. I don't understand why some companies will ONLY ship UPS.

i don't know... the stuff i buy off here are usually off the group buys and 90% american sites. Canada doesn't have very much of a tuning market for the Euro and if you do find it its mad expensive. i hear UPS /DHL have import charges.

You are right, brokerage fees are pretty bad especially with UPS. I don't know in which order the others appear, but USPS is the best for brokerage fees in my opinion. They charge close to nothing, and on some of my deliveries I wasn't evevn charged local taxes either
Every time I can I request that USPS be used for shipping.

    Re: damn brokage fees

just smudge some dirt on them and write "Returning to usa for warranty services"

or write used and make them dirty and make them worth $1

usps doesn't care. ups and fedex are the ones who will get ya every time.

and its not on you; since you didn't declare the value :)

    Re: damn brokage fees

The problem is UPS picks up from the sellers location where USPS they have to see a post office to send it. So for large retailers unless they have a setup with USPS they have to physically goto a post office. You can get USPS to pickup but in the continental USA UPS is really cheap and they pickup from your business so domestically its the way to go. So why setup a whole other shipping method for a country which represents 5% (or less) of your total sales? So they don't bother.

Pisses me off to, for sure. I always have stuff shipped USPS whenever possible. Generally you get that options quite oftin on ebay so I buy a lot of stuff from there only for that reason.

Getting the sender to write "gift" on the box won't always work, shops won't do it most of the times.
Also, writing a small value on the box makes you lose both the shipping insurance and could give you problems in a potential legal action if you have problems.

If you pay for Express shipping, you will not have to pay any brokerage fees.

    Just GST/PST

I disagree - I've been burned by that before when they shipped it next-day FedEx. Got a bill in the mail a few weeks later for $60.
