PBR Metallic Brake pads on Stock B6 A4 with Zimmerman rotors

Hey guys i tried searching but got different answers. anyone running the PBR metallic pads on their cars and if you are how do u like them and do they SQUEAK at all????

I just got Zimmerman Rotors and PBR Metallic pads and im hoping it will be good because my stock rotors are done and my pads are gone like nothing else.

I run PBR ceramics on Zimmerman rotors. They dust but I think thats due to they're x-drilled.

I got PBR metallics and the guy at the store said that they are low on Dust and just a little better on performance compared to OEM which is what i wanted and the price is right. i got the pads for $60 and rotors for $90 a piece. total for $240 and in fact just walked in from picking them up.

so again anyone experience Major squeaking or would like to share any thoughts or comments on the pads so in case i have something to look out for.

I put on PBR metalmasters about 3 months ago and i changed them yesterday and threw them as far as i could. They were sqeaking like crazy. I couldnt stand it. sounded like a Train. I replaced them with oem brakes.

I just edited my post. its the PBR metalmasters. I had stock rotors that I also replaced at the time

They guy at the store told me that they shouldnt squeak as long as you break them in properly. I just checked the box and they are the PBR XBG semi-pro or something like that.

really hope they dont be a squeaky set , cuz I'll go back to the store and shove them up the reps ass for selling them to me. lol

Hey dude, my driver's rear squeaks like crazy, although I'm not sure if it's because of my pads (PBR Ultimate Ceramics). I've tried the Pagids also and they were even worse, so it could be because of either the rotors OR my calipers. I've never flushed my brake fluid ever either. Yea, the squeaking sucks but I got used to it and now I just turn the stereo up

Take those metalmasters back while you still can. I had them, they squealed like pigs no matter what I did (have zimmerman rotors too > installed new together). I put in some OE pagid pads and quiet as can be. It felt good throwing those metalmasters in the garbage.

any recomendations on other pads?

I have PBR Ceramics in the Front on HP2 and Metalmasters on the rears no squeeks at all make sure to use anti-squeel and it should be all good after a proper bed-in... I never got any sqeeks period... I also replaced both front and rear rotors with Adam's SPP specials

I run the pbr and zimmermans on the rear and they squeak like crazy when im coming to a top at around 20mph and lower above that they are fine

I have Metalmasters on my father's C230, Deluxe Plus on my Passat, and Ceramics on my A4. Never squeaked but I think all rotors are ATEs. All had the CRC disc quiet applied.

I think if you read the instructions on the side of the box of the pads on how to break them in properly I should be fine. because some people arent happy and some are!

I think im gonna give them a shot and see! anyhow atleast they arent $130 like the OEM dealer ones. just $60.

Hawks...or anything ceramic...for the people that said they squeeled...did grease them?

I usually do grease up my brakes just a little bit to make sure they are all good. out of all the cars i have owned and i always change my own brakes. i have never got pads that actually squeaked from the beginning, only when they are just about dead OR got overheated or something.

i use them on multiple cars, just follow the bed-in procedure, it is absolutely critical to these pads, my only dissapointment is they dust quite a bit. Make sure to grease them up to prevent the squeek and you should be good to go

sorry but PBR/Metal Masters are some of the worst pads ever created.

anybody that says they are good, must not like using any brakes. compared to real racing pads, they're not even close, and compared to stock pads, they stop worse.

I bed them in properly and used anti squeal (which I usually don't need with OE pads). I'm an ex mechanic...I know what I'm doing but trust me man, those pads suck. Maybe they don't like the zimmerman rotors but the squeals were gone when I used other pads. I have since used PBR delux pads on the wife's bimmer (because they are cheap, it's a lease and I don't car about the car) and they are great. No dust and no squeal but the metalmasters were junk.

you can do whatever you want...but when cold they DON't stop too well...and when warm...they don't stop as well as a OEM, autox, or racing pad.

they're literally pretty horrible for anything. they dust a lot too.

go with OEM, hawk, or porterfield.

CARBOTECH is good too. have not tried PBR Ultimates, but after using their other stuff...i dont trust anything they make.

The Ceramics were worse for dust...and they squealed too...those were what I replaced the delux ones with on the wife's bimmer.
OE pads, you'll find are all very similar. They are good all around pads that work in normal operating conditions but will dust a lot. That's the trade off for no squeal.
I think I'd do hawks in the future but if your buying for the local parts store you might be better off just getting what they have in OE. Or take em back and order something good online. Search, you will find what is best for you.

I put on the PBR MetalMasters and drove around with them and did the whole bedding in process and so far so good. we'll see how it goes.
