My APR red cracked so i finally got time to do it. I did in the worst possible weather therefore i ate a lot of sands and dirt. It's not as easy as the 1.8T because everything is so fucking tight under there, you will find yourself squeezing room. I didn't wear gloves because i couldnt really do anything with gloves on, but it's good if you have a good pair so you dont get all the cuts like i did.
Here is how I did it. my front bumper was off for new bumper so that was the easy part. if you wonder how to remove the front bumper, a4mods.com is your friend. then you need to loosen the radiator support so you can move it and here is how.
take off these two little ones out first, they are right next to the headlight bolt.
then this one under the headlight
three torx bolts that are tight as hell. you will need bigger torx bit, i forgot what size.
so after you take off all the bolts on each side, it's time to remove the bolts on the snub basket and the cross member on the engine.
there are four bolts on the snub basket and each of them are 1/2" bolts. remove them all, counterclock wise!
then the bolts on the cross member on the engine. three of them to remove. it will be tight to do these.
at this point, pull the radiator support a little bit out, do it gently so you dont fuck up any wires! then you can go down there again to push the bottom of the radiator support out to give you more room.
after that, you can take out the crossmember with the snub basket all together. then you do the trick to replace the snub.
cracked after 600 miles which is ridiculous!
new one in! make sure you center the snub correctly so it is not touching anything.
I used some WD40 to put back some of the bolts because there were few that were hard to put back on.
it's not a long job but it's just a bitch to do all this tediout work. do it slowly and with patience so you dont screw up anything!
this is a good way to save money I guess
