    Fuel Gauge accuracy?...

I've had my '04 A6 for about a month and a half now and I'm still trying to figure out the fuel consumption/mpg's. My computer says 22 mpg and thats fine, but from the time I leave my house and get to work (20miles) the fuel guage needle moves down almost a quarter tank! Then when I go home in the evening, the fuel gauge needle seems to be back up where I would expect it but does the same thing on the way home.

Also, has anyone notice better mpg's at higher highway speeds? My prior car, an '05 Saab 9-3 had a "sweet spot" of about 65 mi before the mpgs would deminish. Could it be higher for the 2.7T?

Your sending unit could be on its way out.Does it matter how much fuel is in it?To your other question I noticed that I get the best gas milage on highway at about 80mph forget what rpm, thats no bs.Can go from my house danbury ct area to my dads in upstate ny 3hours away averaging 80 on less than half a tank.Which is fine with me.
