Lets face it, who doesn't want to spend 40 bucks on a complete set of bright ass LEDs for the B5??

My problem is that 42draftdesigns only has compatibility listed for VW. What about us??

Anyone that has successfully changed the interior/ license plate bulbs for the bright ass LED bulbs, please share your wisdom.

Also different years will have different bulb numbers so please list your year AND Bulb numbers

B6 here, but I had 42DD LEDs in and they looked great but gave me on and off 'bulb-out' warnings, then one was burning too hot on one side and burnt out the bulb after less than 2 months. Just changed back to the piss-yellow bulbs because they were too much of a hassle

I have a set of bright ones and want to go back to stock. The LEDs are just too much at night.

audmods has the whole set for audi's, but they are not LED's they are "zenon" bulbs, or whatever they are calling them, they look good though, I bought a set about a year ago.

You can just buy some LED on ebay for pretty cheap, hook up some resistors depending on the original bulbs voltage and amperage and have a safe, bright light.

I put those in a couple of months ago and they've been fine so far (I'd take some pictures, but I just have a little point-and-shoot camera and my low-lights photo skills suck). They seem to work fine in the B5s, don't know how long they'll last, but hell, they're only 5 bucks each.

I think the license plate lights are a bit too blingy and would attract unwanted attention at night.

But i would like to have some nice modern looking interior lights. No one knows which bulb numbers those are? Can they all be changed?

SUPERBIRGHTLEDS.com is the best. Prices, quality, and service. I had issues with 42DD back in the day. The hardware they sent me for my gauges and pods sucked big balls. I believe the prices at Superbright are a fraction of the price of 42 too. just my .02

you need 2 39mm fuse style, 2 of the cylinder/twist style (im not sure which one it is off the top of my head), 2 194 (for the footwells), and the rear light takes 2 of those same style cylinder/twist bulbs like the front light

i talked to carly @ 42dd about putting together an audi interior light kit. i told her i had a b5 and could help w/ what bulbs go where, marketing, pics, and what not.

she said she would forward the email to the owner (evan) because she thought it was a good idea and ppl ask her about audi fitment and she doesnt know what to tell them

i never heard back about it ..maybe i should call and bug her about it haha

Re: Official Bulb Compatibiity Thread (42DD.com)

Or you can go to www.syllvania.com and go to their bulb fitment guide and just punch in the model of your car and it will tell you ever bulb that goes everywhere.

I've had good luck with that combined with http://autolumination.com/194.htm They have some real bright ones. I have some 194's that I have had in my city lights for at least 6 months and no problems next to the HID's. They have built in heatsinks too. Their website may look kind of cheesy, but it works and the quality has been good.
They have quite a selection of 194 styles too, so you can get creative...

Why make it easier for the cops to see your tags? That doesn't make sense to me.

Because a) I dont ever plan on running with expired tags, and b) I dont ever plan on running from the cops.

They look awesome. Why put LEDs into the interior, you know as soon as they go on youre attracting attention as well, same with HID fogs, test pipes, and BOVs...etc. etc. etc.

i dont understand what the fuss is about, i have had multiple cops behind me at night since having them on and no issues. are you guys worried youre going to get pulled over for having the lights in, or are you worried youre going to get caught with expired tags?

you could always rotate the bulb so that less light passes through the lens directly.

that would be very nice, hopefully only the interior though, lol...and like i said, pre facelifts never came with footwell lights.

either way, its about time they showed some audi love.
