    Re: lowering on coilovers...

if you are getting them brand new, Stasis presets them to what they think is optimal for our cars (which is setting it at a level chasis too). From there you can fine tune if you want.

You meaure from ground to bottom of fender to determine height. For reference sake, my front is a touch less than 25 1/2, rear is 25 even. Front end "should" be a little higher if you don't want it to be nose heavy. Plus the fender themselves are not level to each other (hope that makes sense, can't describe it very well).

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

I installed my Stasis a couple of days ago. My rear is 25 1/2 and front is 1/4" higher (from the lip of the fender to ground).

To achieve this height I left 5 visible threads in the inside of the rear collars (difficult to measure with any device)

The fronts are easy; I left 75mm of visible threads under the biggest spring perch ( I dropped the smaller adjuster ring to the bottom of the shock to measure)

hope this helps as a guideline.

I know this crosses into "driver preference" territory but having a higher front end also results in more understeer :(

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

So would it be better to be the same height front and back? Which is what I want to do. I'm getting FK coilovers in a week or so and I'm installing 19s VMR reps. I
m thinking about a 26" ground to fender height all around.

The car is designed to have a bigger clearance in the front fender but that doesn't mean that the car is higher in the front. With my setup - 1/4" higher in the front fender lip-to-ground - the 'ground clearance' of the car is still 10mm higher in the rear.

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

I see. I just don't like the look where the rear is sitting on the tire, but the front has a gap. I want them to be as even as possible while not affecting anything negatively that I don't know about. Does 26" high sound like a good number to go from? Or should I just go with the default FK setting? I like the stock RS4 look, which I read was like 1.2" below my base A4 height (which puts it around 26")

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

26 is a good number. I don't know about FKs but I fear that the rear of the Stasis would be sitting on only a couple of threads at 26... I don't know if it's doable

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

I'd highly recommend you get your car corner balanced after you put your coilovers on. IMO, the whole point of coilovers first and foremost is improved handling, and looks second. If you really want to get your handling dialed it, you really should get your car corner-balanced -- it makes a WORLD of difference.

+1. And as far as height is concerned, I wouldn't go too low for a daily driver. I'm going with 25.25R and 25.5F.

    Re: lowering on coilovers...

Does corner balancing imply adjusting height of a determined wheel/s to make them distribute weight equally? Sorry for the noob question but I've never heard of this before.

how much does it +/- cost?

Read the article in the link below for a good explanation of what corner-balancing is:
    http://www.elephantracing.com/techto...nerbalance.htm

The cost amount would depend on the shop that is doing it for you. Keep in mind that legitimate shops would generally cost more than others. Oh and something else to consider. Be sure to remove "extra weight" in your car if you want an accurate setting and make sure whoever is performing the corner balance on your car makes you sit in the car while he/she is doing it.

Edit: height settings are somewhat independent from corner balancing.
