    Question Understanding Boost Gauge readings?

Just installed the AWE boost gauge. Wanted to know how to properly understand the readout the gauge gives me, and what is normal operating boost/vacuum readouts.

    thanks

the way ii understand it is that, when you hit the gas and the needle jumps up thats how much psi the turbo is putting out. I dont understand the vacuum part tho....

When the throttle body closes the gauge reads how much vacuum the engine is producing as it sucks the air out of the intake manifold. Engines with higher compression will produce more vacuum, if you have a vac leak you will notice the vac readings to be come lower.

As the TB opens the pressure evens out since more air is allowed into the IM and once the turbo is producing enough boost to over come the vacuum and atmos pressure the gauge then reads zero, after that point the gauge then reads "boost".

So what does the figure mean? How much does 1lbs of boost equal in horsepower?

    Re: Understanding Boost Gauge readings?

It's different for all engines and turbos, there isn't a constant like 1lb=3hp or something like that.
