new speakers/system

my birthday is coming up and i'm looking to spoil myself a bit (not too much tho), i want to upgrade my interior speakers badly on my a4. i don't have the bose model so plain and simple the speakers are just really weak right now. the funny thing is they are only weak when its playing a cd, but if the source is the radio it can bump pretty loud nothing extravagant tho. im wondering if i would to upgrade my interior speakers, maybe get a sub or two and an amp, should i get a new head unit, due to the fact it can't play cds that loud? i really like the d3 but it's out of my budget right now. so what im asking is what kinda interior speakers would u recommend, what subs, what amp, and what should i do about the headunit.

as for a sub, the w3 is great bang for your buck, bumps hard and lasts forever, i over powered it for almost 4 months before finally blowing it at full volume lol...(o yea, and they sound awsome)... as for amps the alpine 650 and 450 are great amps, good power for entry level, hell I use em for competitions in my a4 and have won a few things here and there, its not about the power its how u use it lol... lastly, Hertz speakers, look for em, they are new... AMAZING SOUND QUALITY for the price... i mean they rival Focal which happens to be one of the highest quality products out there, and the Hertz has three yrs of warrentee wich is nice too... also look at jl amps, alpine speakers, and as for a head unit... i have a d2 i wanna get rid of for a decent price... lol

i had boston acoustic pro front components and a jl audi amp and a 12" sub. perfect setup and not overkill. (no one really needs 2 12" or 15" subs unless you are driving a tricked out cadillac escalade).

Well the sound volume could be due to several things. Poor signal to noise ratio on the cd player itself. The fact that FM stations boost thier signals, or that there is a loose wire or something in the unit.

I have Boston Acoustic SX Component Sets, I didn't replace the sub, I use the stock one although it's not very powerful. JL Audio makes great subs and you could get a 10 and built a sealed or ported box and get great tone without spending a fortune.

hmm alright i think im leaning twards some boston acoustic component speakers and maybe one 10" or 12" jl sub. would i need an amp to also power the component speakers or would they be fine how they are

Let me know if you are interested in a custom built (by forum member A4Moda) sub enclosure that fits on the driver's side of the trunk. It's for 04+ models (but you can put it in the earlier ones with some minor work) and you have to relocate the XM tuner, but it saves space. It will take a 12in sub (I'll sell it with a Image Dynamics 12in). It's brand new. PM me if you are interested. I also have new speakers (for the front doors) and amps that I'm considering selling. I was going to put them in my A4, but didn't get to.

JL 12w7 with 2000 watts bumps real nice. just get a bass knob.
