Angry "Coincidental" problems after oil change?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, 3 weeks after warranty expired, I took the 2004 A4 Cab. 3.0 to Meineke Car Care for alignment, oil change, etc. A week later a coolant leak started. They explored & said either a hose or valve or clamp. (Did not get it repaired.) Then, a week later (today) my belly pan was scraping the ground and then came completely off. My research indicates that they must have removed belly pan to change oil and then to investigate coolant leak, and probably moved the coolant reserve tank when changing the oil. http://www.fastaudi.net/a4/library/oilchange.html

Does this sound like a COINCIDENCE or do you think that these folks have caused the problems mentioned above? The timing is awfully curious. Thanks!

yeah i wouldnt trust the people at meineke. they always seem to use just enough to get your car off the place. atleast about the belly pan. they definately screwed that up. probably not enough screws put back in

bring it to a place that knows euro cars. even better if they know audis.

not sure about your place, but our meinikes are muffler shops that also so happen to do oil changes cause its an extra source of revenue.

quite frankly, i would be surprised if they even put in the right oil, unless you brought your own.

Re: "Coincidental" problems after oil change?

Same thing happened to me about a year ago. I took it into a Firestone shop for an oil change. A while later my coolant started leaking. I took it into an indy Audi shop and they told me that the oil filter that Firestone had used was too small. As a result, I had lost quite a bit of oil too. Long story short, I had to get about $1500 worth of work done to get it running like normal. I always take it to a local indy shop that specializes in Audis now. $80 oil changes may seem steep at first but it pays in the long run
