    Question for the BT guys

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So being that I have some extra funds and a tax return on the way I decided to put the Iforged wheels on hold and drop the coin for some real HP. My question- Which turbo should I go with? I will be running APR software. I do not need crazy power just something that will be there if I choose to use it, maybe 275-300 whp. The Gt28r is relatively inexpensive but I've read in the past that you can detonate your engine due to boost spikes that they create. GTRS/GT28rs is what I hear everyone running but I just think it will be too much for me as a daily. I did search but this is an opinion thread, so post opinions if you have a BT. Also I found a GT28r for a reasonable price so this is why I'm asking. Thanks guys.

Re: Question for the BT guys

I would go for a GTRS however its going to come in on the bottom of the HP scale your looking for. You'll be around 275-280whp on pump with all the supporting mods. GT28R is not going to get you anywhere close to 275whp, even on 100 octane. If you dont have a supplier for the parts, let me know!

I'm not sure you can get APR BT tuning without buying their kit.
With that said, I'm still diggin' on my stage 3+. until I see the BAT guys running something reliable and tested, I'm very happy with what I've got and beat up on most cars on the road in my area.

Re: Question for the BT guys

My BAT has been flawless, except for the turbo going bad, I think that was due to insufficient signal to the BOV and the bearings got beat out of it. But Revo software has adapted very well.

Alright, can you PM me Shawn and let me know what I'm looking at spending for the GTRS and hardware. I will be sourcing a manifold and injectors on my own unless you can get ahold of everything at better pricing.

If you need a set of Genesis 440cc injectors let me know.

I'll be swapping them out when I get the Genesis 550cc units in.

Already have a Racetec that I bought in december, it's sitting in my family room. This has been a plan in the making since December, I just lacked the funds. I'll get there piece by piece. Early spring hopefully.

Re: Question for the BT guys

im right there with you man. GTRS is the way i'm going... if you're lacking funds and going piece by piece - you can get the turbo/hardware and injectors and more or less be good to go. assuming you have clutch, exhaust, TIP, FMIC, and a DV already.

for the TIP - i suggest you go the custom route. as i'm finding out, it'll allow for further expansion down the road (if you move to a 3" MAF/550's and a 2871 or 3071 w/a new manifold) and it's A LOT less expensive.

They will be available next week when my 550s arrive.

Total time the 430s have been in use? Less than 50 hours.

Yeah I think I'm set with supporting mods, I have DV, testpipe, exhaust, fmic and a tip but it is APR(will it work?). I currently have Apr software on my car, just stage one. Do I have to go REVO for stg3 software or can I run APR? Clutch will be coming in a couple months.

275-300 whp will be fine for me, I just want the power here and there plus I know these cars werent built to handle anymore power than that. My dad builds race cars and told me he is going to laugh when I break my first cv axle and say "I told you so". The stock Ko3 just isnt enough for me even with the APR. If I can do this under 3 grand I'm going to be happy. I have more than half of that already and am putting my gold iforged wheels on hold again.

no, I will go with the GT28RS...

since I installed my FMIC this past weekend the k03 is on her late stages of dying. So I have to upgrade, I'm goin' to skip k04 and go directly to gt28rs. It's only ~$2,500 w/o the tip that I still need.

You're in the same boat as I am, my turbo is leaking oil and I figured I would catch it before it dies completely. Why go K04 when you can go BT for a little bit more.

With the turbo, software and all supporting mods you're looking at roughly 5 grand, unless you can find everything used.
