Hey everyone, so I was driving my car, and all of the sudden it felt as though the turbo was not boosting. There was no pull at all. Then the CEL came on. It went about a day like this, then CEL shut off, car was boosting again. A few days went by and now I do not have a CEL, but the car is not boosting. Here are the codes that it through:
17701- Map controlled engine cooling thermostat (f265): short to plus P1293 - 001 - upper limit exceeded
16840- EVAP system: Very small leak detected P0456 - 002 Lower limit exceeded - intermittent
17536- Fuel trim; Bank 1 (mult): system too lean P1128 - 001 - upper limit exceeded - intermittent
16395- Bank 1: Camshaft A (intake): retard setpoint not reached (over-advan) P0011 -002 Lower limit exceeded- intermittent
Does anyone have any experience with any of these codes, and what is involved to get them fixed....
17701 The F265 as you probably know is your electronically controlled thermostat. It contains a heating element that is controlled by the ECU varying the voltage based on feedback from the G62 sensor on the back of the block and the G83 sensor in the lower radiator hose. It sounds like you have a short in the heating circuit.
16840 Could be your gas cap. Also check your evap purge valve and the check valve that is in line with the evap purge valve. These are both located above your air filter. Run a search for post by A4TL on the evap purge valve. IIRC he posted a good bit of info on his P0456 problem.
17536 P1128 This is indicative of a long term condition rather than a short term (vacuum leak) Possible causes are Mass Air Flow Sensor faulty, Oxygen Sensor Control faulty, Fuel Injector(s) faulty.
16395 Possibly a faulty camshaft Adjustment Valve (N205). As I understand the function of this feature it is only utilized on start up to help qualify the 1.8T as an ULEV. Once the car is warmed up it isn't needed.
Hope that helps a little and gives you a few areas to search for more info.
