got the b&m. I have a 98 so i took my console out. I am not overly impressed but have not tried other short shifters in a4's.

I have the B&M in my 97 and love it. It was a great improvement over the UUC that I used to have. Can't speak about the V&S since I never tried one so I can't say. I got mine from AWE http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...r&IL=bmshifter

Yup, I have teh B&M and its a quality product with adjustable throw reduction... If I had to do it again I'd get teh V&S. I hear it's really good and cheaper too!

i have the b&m shifter and i love its the second car i have had it in and i wouldnt go with anything else the v&s may be cheaper but i love my b&m

You have to take it out and remove the screw on the bottom, move the arm to one of the other notches and replace the screw.

I had the B&M in my A4 and put it in my S4 when i purchased that!

Has anyone installed these shifters in their cars? Was it simple? Any speacial tools you may need or encounter any problem during installation?

Or you can just search for the member here named "silva" and send him a PM, he makes them.

Install is pretty easy, there's great instructions on their website that you can look at to see what tools you need. I installed mine at night with a flashlight, it took about 45 mintutes, and I took my time. It's more tedious than it is difficult.

99 and older is a pain in the butt because you have to remove the center console. 99.5 is simple(same procedure without removing the center console.)

I have a 97. I didn't have to remove the console. I just popped off the shift boot, and got to work.

I have a b&m SS in my '98 a4. I installed it without removing my console and it was fairly easy(some screws were hard to reach). You can find the b&m at a few websites for around $200.00 and it comes with a shift knob.
