which is best to upgrade a stock turbo...or is there a difference??? i would like the bov to be louder...i was looking at the ECS site and it stated that it has the ECS HKS BOV kits...now i looked at the HKS site and their BOV are around $100 more than ECS...i heard the HKS SSQV is really good...is that true?

Honestly the best thing to do is a Search on this topic. It's been discussed more than just about any other. There is only the BPV/DV to change. Just the one thing for 1.8T. No BOV's at all.

No reason to feel discouraged. I think you'll just find more than enough info to make an educated decision on what you want to do. The choice is pretty clear, it's just up to you which one you go with.

haha, Nah. BOV just aren't the best choice. Since we have MAF on our cars, the ECU looks for that air that is being recirculated. If you get the BOV it gets vented. Not what you want. Get the TT 225 BPV if you want a cheap alternative that seems to work well. I have a Bailey and like it. But you'll find that the neatl ones cost quite a bit more $$$$.

unless you have a large turbo that moves massive amounts of air the BOV is not a necessity.... a DV will recirc the air just fine... BOV's are only needed when there is too much air to recirculate.... so far all of the wide band logging i have done with the GFB hybrid (not a true BOV) shows that when the valve shuts and the system goes back to close loop (ie when you hit the throttle) you dont actually run rich, though i cant say anything about the blitz or any of those kinds of dump valves.... i would not recommend getting one just for the sound though as it is a waste of money since they are generally more expensive than DV's and take a bunch of other crap to install it....

Its your car, just do the research and dont be afraid to ask question. You might get some attitudes but your question will always be answered... Don't buy anything untill you have looked around the market and reseached the products...

Just to clarify, the TT 225 BPV (from ECS, and many others), is the same part as the 710N. In my experience they've lasted over 10,000 miles (easily) and I've been more than happy with that DV.

I like to replace the part each time with a brand new part, rather than having to service the valve, which is required in most aftermarket DVs. It also makes trouble-shooting boost problems very easy, and cost-effective.

Just a thought. When you put that 710N valve in, put it in upside down. In other words backwards from the original install. It holds boost better.

    No problems at all!

I'm not sure how the TT bpv are but if they can handle 225Hp they must be ok.

ECS definitely sells it. Search on their site for "710N" after you go into the Audi section.

    It's $26.95

The original question was about upgrading a K03 setup. For that application the TT valve is fine.

i went through 3 of them boosting 17 psi on a k03 in 15000 miles what exactly is your definition of fine? i bet most people running them with more the 1 bar of boost are surging and dont even know it.... like i said on a previous post it was a waste of about 100 bucks (cost of 3 valves + shipping, etc...)

I dont know why everyone thinks the 710N is a worthwhile mod....

it's still a plastic valve with a rubber diaphram which is prone to failure much quicker than an aftermarket valve.

Its relatively cheap and can handle up to 1.2 PSI. I ran it for a few months with no problems. I know people who have run it for years. Unless you go big turbo, the 710N will do.

This is the problem with the mistertam website, he tested the valves in controlled conditions with a pump, he cannot build pressure with the pump he used as fast as your car will. the car rather will have more of a shock to the load ie the pressure will come on hard and instantaneously. These conditions will cause a rubber diaphragm to fail more easily. I have personally had 3 fail on me with less then 1.2 bar of boost and have had other friends as well along with the others that have posted their issues with the valve.... bottom line just do it right the first time and you wont have to diagnose shitty valves like nismosx and I just did....
