    pictures from DE-MOD day...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so i met up with johungie to help him demod his car.. he's parting it out to sell.. he already has dibs on his exhaust, wheels, bov, turbo timer and subs.. but anwyays we had to rip everything off his car.

so before we started we took pics.. cuz u know me.. i love pics!

so there we go.. first thing we decided to do was to take the wheels off because the buyer was coming to pick them up in 20 minutes.. we proceeded to jack up the car with the stock jack and halfways up.. low and behold the stock jack comes tumbling down and rips through the door of the driver side. what the F*CK is up with these SHITTY jacks???? what if someone was working on somethng?! they didnt even have to be under the car or anything.. .the car just fell over and the jack did this...

    heres the jack bent up

    and heres another pic

any way that he can sue audi? even though we were both around the car to seek compensation? i honestly didnt know that these jacks were so unsafe! the car apparently just toppled over and lodged the car onto the jack and it ripped through the stock door blades.

anyways any input would be great because i KNOW he wants to at least get money back to make up for the damages made to his car...and if not more get them to design a new shit jack.

Take it to the dealer first, see what kind of excuses they can come up with. Because you have evidence that the jack was at it's correct jack point when you look at the scar. If they don't cooperate or fix it, then take it to Audi USA. They will for sure compensate for it.

shit...u know what that same shit happened to me when my car was brand new. Paper plates driving and i got a flat because i ran over a rock the size of a mountain and to make things worst the jack slipped and ripped through my paint like yours. Well not as bad. I think there is suppose to be a slit under your car where your suppose to place to jack correctly so it can hold. Well that sucks man.

    OUCH!

It would be pretty hard to prove jack "failure", even though I'm SURE AoA has received NUMEROUS complaints about their POS jacks. A dealer can easily blame and say "operator error" or "user negligence", in which will just piss you off anyway. If I were you, I'd go straight to AoA with those pics, and see what they can do. If they are really "cool" and want to keep you as a happy Audi owner, they will ask you to send them a repair bill from the bodyshop, in which they "may" reimburse you. No promises here, so dont get your hopes up. Just do every PROFESSIONALLY and be curteous, and AoA will do what they can to help you out. "Audizine" style flaming and shittalking will NOT work, except maybe the "ban" or even police escort

WTF were you thinking using your stock jacks anyway?

    Man that sucks.
That's why I consider those emergency use only, seen too many cars fall over that I would never trust them.

same thing happened to me about 2 months ago. I went to the dealer first, who went to AoA. Claim was denied without any explanation. I went back to AoA and asked them to explain their reasoning, and was told it was "possible" that the damage was caused by user error. I explained to them that the service manager at my dealer had already determined it wasn't, and wanted to know how they came to that conclusion. The person there didn't know, but promised to have someone call, which never happened. I wrote a letter to AoA, but never got a response.

So instead of taking care of a potential lifelong customer, who clearly wasn't at fault, AoA has now made me reconsider what to do once my car's warranty runs out in another 1200mi.

that sucks man, but why would you use the factory jacks to lift the car??? they're meant for emergency use, not as an excuse to not buy a real jack. not tryin to be an ass, but i'd think money spent on a real jack is money well spent for anyone who does any work on their own car, whether to remove tires, change an exhaust, whatever. then you can avoid mishaps like that. but i agree, audi needs to backslapped across the head for such a shitty jack. again, not tryin to be an ass. call it constructive criticism.

Those jacks are in no way for regular use. Emergencies only. It's happened to alot of member who used them for things. They are just not that reliable.

def agree, I have heard those jacks are such a POS. I don't know how many more complaints that Audi needs to receive in order to pro-actively do something. Sorry to hear you had to be a victim of it

I've yet to come across a jack from any manufacturer that I would trust to jack up my car on a regular basis. These are designed for emergency use, you have to understand that.

if they are designed for emergency use then they should at least be able to withstand the cars weight when we change tires. simple as that. or else there is no use in putting a faulty jack inside the vehicle unless they just purposely want to kill their own drivers. all we were gunna do was swap out the wheels... shouldnt have been an issue ive used the stock jack several times.

well ill tell my friend to go to dealer

Happened to me as well, over a year ago...good thing stock sides are cheap as hell (~$70 not including painted lowers)...oh, and audi won't pay for it, they will tell you that you did not put the jack under the frame correctly...total BS...thats why I bought myself a floor jack with jack stands from Walmart for $15, and it rocks...use it all the time...the only way I'll use the Audi jack ever again is if I'm stuck w/ a flat on the highway.

thats just retarded.. u can tell by where the markings are that the jack WAS in the correct position

and what about the jack itself? it is evidence that it failed.. the plate that supports the brace under the car is bent as u can see. its not that the jack slipped.. its that it bent, and almost snapped

i think i'll sacrifice myself for the good of audi and go under the car on the stock jack. then i can sue, get millions in a cash settlement and then you guys will have jack recalls =)
