I bought the wrong wheels :(

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well I got new brake pads all around today and got a phone call from audi saying that my 18x8" +43 offset wheels would not fit. Funny thing is I bought them and installed them when my brake pads were worn, and now that I got new pads and rotors today the calipers were back where they belong, and my "B5 RS4 replicas" (I now found out they are ULTRASPORT replicas) do not fit.

Will the hartmann 18x8" b5 rs4 reps with a +35 offset fit over stock s4 brakes? Also, I bought brand new 235/40/18 Conti-sports for these ultrasport wheels; will they fit on the +35 offset wheels?

And I was wondering why my wheels were sitting a little inside the fender wells. Time for new wheels baby!

Here's a pic of how the wheels sit now:

Re: I bought the wrong wheels :(

at ET43, you should be able to run some spacers to make them fit still. You can run as low as a 32 offset safely on the B5 Chassis (which is what most BBS wheels are for the car as well). Hope that helps so you dont have to buy new wheels.

they should work w spacers. if you want to run the wheel w no spacer then you are gonna have to find another set.

Re: I bought the wrong wheels :(

ok i have been doing some searching and need help with the offset thing,
if +43 offset does not fit and he needs a min of +35offset does this mean that the lower the offset the more room it has? or does it depend on the wheel itself? im looking at getting new wheels and cant freakin figure this out. I DONT want to run wheel spacers to fit over my front brakes, WTF over.
If it aint broke... Dont fix it!

Re: I bought the wrong wheels :(

Zero Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.
Positive Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is shifted from the centerline toward the front or outside of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.
Negative Offset - The plane of the hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheel's centerline.

(wikipedia got it right ;) )

EDIT - so the bigger the offset, the closer the wheel/tire will be to the inside of the car, i.e. calipers, suspension. make sense?

Re: I bought the wrong wheels :(

Whats the stock offset for a b5? The ideal offset? Obviously +35 is too shallow to run w/o spacers, or is it that it just doesn't clear the stock brakes?
