Gelato is my fav type. specifically, chocolate gelato with a shot of freshly brewed espresso poured on top. yum.
but I believe "gelato" made in the Italian style is markedly different than traditional US ice cream. texture and flavor are distinct. I think they much less heavy dairy in theirs, they accentuate the flavor of the "main ingredient" (berry, chocolate, almond, whatever) and not the milk. tastes better (to me), and less fat to boot.
Gelato seems to be gaining popularity in the US now; I always pick it over ice cream when given the choice.

    I like oatmeal cookie.

Cold stone is solid, but a little too much show, not enough go. They all dance and chant in the ones I've been too, trying to beg for tips. Way overpriced stuff.

I have a chain near me called "J.P. Licks" which is good stuff.

cold stone is soo good but soo pricy, well not really. I have to say Vanilla bean with caramel schnopps(sp), you get everything you want, icecream with a alcoholic topping , that even tastes good
