does anyone have a torque converter?

i was thinking about getting a torque converter/bulletproof transmission from level 10 and i was wondering if anyone who has a this could tell me what they think about it. its pretty expensive so im not so sure i would want to buy it unless it really helps a lot. also if any of you know other reliable companies who do bulletproof transmissions then let me know about them.

    here's a link
    thanks a lot!

Don't you only have a torque converter when you have an Automatic transmission. And Level 10 has worked on my friend's car's tranny (Accord V6 my old car as well) and they did a terrible job. They did good on some cars but on some cars they didn't do so well. Do you have an Auto A4 or something?

i have a CVT and ive always wondered that...

isnt there something we can do about the torque issue with the CVT? that way we can go with bigger turbo upgrades and what not and not have to worry about messing up the tranny...

Torque Converter is only for the AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION..

It works like clutch in Manual...

I think everybody knows that right?

no can you please explain? im not too familiar with what a torque converter does...

the only thing ive heard is that its for automatic transmissions and it allows you to increase the amount of torque the auto transmission can handle

concerning torque: the metal belt is the week point of the CVT.

is that the ONLY weak thing about the CVT?

if that is the case... then theoretically... if i were to replace the belt with a belt that were more heavy duty... then i could increase the torque and HP...

    is this a correct assumption?

perhaps in theory . . . but engineering a new one for a CVT in quite an undertaking. It is the most important part of the entire transmission . . .

probably not going to happen. not much of a market as most enthusiasts drive manuals. you could go with a slightly larger turbo and custom software to reduce the torque to a value the CVT can handle.

Automatic tranny cars have stock torque converters. it's not like an add on equipment that allows you to add more power. It's like...on manual cars, your stock clutch sucks so you get better clutch to handle the power without slipping. A torque converter is the same concept but only on a manual car.

As far as the cvt chain upgrade. i don't think that's gonna happen. it's like 5speed manual people trying to upgrade to a 6speed manual. There really would be no aftermarket support for such a stupid mod. Well not that it's stupid, it's just pointless and would be ridiculously costly. And plus the whole point of audi making the CVT transmission was for comfort and to handle stock power. If you got a different chain and such it would defeat the whole purpose of the audi CVT tranny system. And like MARK said, it's not the actual transmission that can't take the power, it's the chains of the CVT models. But come to think of it...CVT doesn't even have any gears...haha so i guess you have 'simulated' gears...and you don't really have a tranny...you have a chain driven car...
