AZ NorCal Dinner GTG the weekend of Aug 28th

Selya and I had been talking about and looking into locations for an evening dinner type gathering later this month. We'd initially been thinking of going with a Hawaiin-style potluck theme, but recently stumbled across this amazing little Mexican restaurant in Alviso.

For only $10 a head ($5 for children) you'll get all-you-can eat Mexican food. and I'm talking really good authentic Mexican, with a full bar. Sodas and water will be included, alchohilc drinks are of course extra. It's a really large spot, plenty of parking in town, and has a great old-world theme. You'll forget you're only a few minutes from Santa Clara or Milpitas. Feels like you're really south of the border!

So it's a great location to bring the entire family and just hang out with good people and eating some fantastic Mexican food in a fun setting. We could also include the NorCal VW guys, and perhaps tie it in with a drive or an "after autocross dinner" on that Sunday.

We can lock in either day, the 28th or 29th. I'm thinking some time after 3 and we can have the place until as late as 10 or 11.

Post here and let me know which day is best for you, and we'll secure the spot early next week.

just FYI

most of the autocrossers won't be available on the 29th, and maybe can't stay late on the 28th(i'll be staying in marina that night)... last autox of the season, something that we can't miss due to points and rankings... it will be in marina airport in monterey.

I know. Josh and I are going to this auto-x. I was actually thinking we could meet in Alviso that afternoon, after the auto-x that morning.

well, most of us are running in the morning... i don't know what class you are running.... but that'll work after the morning autox.

I know, we talked about the auto-x today at ND. What time does the morning run usually end, what time do you usually head out? That will decide what time Sunday is best to meet in Alviso. We can do more of a lunch GTG instead of a dinner.

Yeah, its 30 dollars with/without sponsor. If you don't have a sponsor, you can register for a yearly membership to SCCA for 80 dollars.

oh man! i'll be in sac for an 18th birthday party saturday night..hopefully i'll make it to marina on sunday (i have to convince my mom not to stay overnight in sac since i'm the chauffeur!)

come to think of it, i wonder if my mom, sis and i are still going to sac...depends on my grandma's condition...

if you're a non-member you can't run at all unless a member will sponsor you and be on the buddy program. yes you only pay $30 to run...

since it seems like there's a lot of non-members coming to marina on the 29th, and there are only few members, well i have to find out from SCCA if they will let a member sponsor 2 person.

... or just pay $80 before the 29th and you're good to go until next August!
