So I have a 2007 Audi A3 as a loaner while my timing belt is done....

And its alot faster than my A4, I didn't think it would be that noticable. I know it has like 40 more hp and its FWD, but still. I'm hoping that it feels about what a chip would feel like in the A4. Whats weird though is I can hear the turbo in this car spooling up and I really feel the "kick" when its in 1st 2nd and 3rd, but in my car I can't really at all, makes me think somethings wrong with my turbo. My cars totally stock and manual, this A3 has the tiptronic.

The turbo in the 2.0T's is variable geometry and kicks in MUCH sooner than that on the 1.8t's. The response is what you feel, along with much less weight I'm guessing...

    No it's not. It's still a simple K03 last I checked.
The reason why it spools up sooner is due to the extra 200cc.

Correct about the turbo and the 200cc helps too.

Also the whole turbo/exhaust manifold design on the 2.0T is 40% more efficient and that helps a lot.

i chip makes a world of difference..no traction at all through 2nd gear either (fwd of course) but it pulls really hard, go stage 2 and youll actually think to yourself, this is an A3??

My car with stage 1+ with testpipe and custom magnaflow exhaust is about even with a MKV GTI with CAI/ Eurojet Turboback exhaust. This was from a the launch, and I could hear his tires spin like crazy due to the torque. THe a3 should be similar in terms of performance to the MKV GTI, and I must say I love that 2.0T!!
    another stereotypical Audi

This does make a huge difference. I loved the DSG when I drove an A3. The thing felt just as fast as my k04...
