ok, so my car has trouble turning over when i let it sit for a day or so. i let it sit for 2 days and i couldnt get it to start, it would make a little effort and then just click. i figured it was the battery, but the battery doesnt have low power. then i hooked up jumpers to it and it started right away? it has to be the battery then , right?

Yep sounds like the battery. I would get a new one and then have your charging system checked.

^ what he said. definately get your charging system checked.
Also you may want to check the water levels on the battery if you can. If it is low.... you should refill the fluid

the alternator is what holds the charge once the car is started, if it was your alternator your volt meter would fluctuate up and down, which is what happened to mine not too long ago.

Sometimes alternators are weak without showing a large fluctuation of voltage.

Just be carefull when you do!! (You can use distilled water too if it isn't all that low.) but if you take the cap off (non maint free battery) just be careful, I had to take a cap off a battery one time and there was an air pocket in there and battery acid flew into my eye... Wasn't fun being blind for a week!! Wear eye protection...
