    SPP Precision Optics... highest wattage?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm about to order the precision optics for the H7 off SPP, but I was wondering if I would be able to use the 80watts in my housings without melting everything. I know the stock ones are 55w, but I'd like to do 80w. Any advice?

I have a pair of 12v H7 80w Hyper yellow from SPP, used less than 2 weeks, I ended up getting xenon and used my whites for the high beams. $25 shipped if your interested.

Well I used mine and then the ignition switch went bad. Not sure if it had anything to do with the light bulbs but I switched them out just for peace of mind. I know that Eric at SPP recommends them (80 watt) so I am not sure if my case was just coincedence.

80w will be fine, don't do 100 watt, you'll fry something, 55 is very conservative

    I wouldn't run 80 for very long.

So then 55 in lows and fogs and then throw some 80s in the highs? Usually you don't use your highbeams unless you really need a lot of light or want to flash someone.

Does that make sense or is the increase in light output not worth it.

I have mine like that. I run 80's in my highs, but never have to use them since I have HID's in my fogs and lows.

I'd stick with 55W only...unless you want ot replace your wiring...

I had the 80W, One of the bulbs blew out after only having them in for about a few months. They seemed fine when they were in though, no worries about frying anything. But they didn't last very long for me.

Stick with the 55w. Unless you want to end up forking out money that could go towards xenons!

this is the truth about 80 watts, it will melt it. at 70 you still run a risk but 70watt is as high as you will want to go. dont run anything over 70. the reason why is because long hours of continous and just using them over a span of months will fry them either way
