Black mirrors?

I'm thinking of painting my sideview mirrors black similar to the 20th AE GTI. Just wanted to kick this idea around. What do ya guys think? And if anyone has already done this or wants to photochop one on a santorin A4, GO for it and post pics. Thanks!

I wouldn't do it. It would make the car look a lower model. such as a dx for honda, ce for toyota or a gxe for nissan

I'm with ddq on this one, you got new parts because you tried to fit into a to tight spot and did not have the money to get the newones painted so you just put them on. kind of like the guys who put the big nasty kits on their cars unpainted....

i didn't like them on the GTI, and i wouldn't like them on yurs, go chrome, the brished are too pricy for not enough of an improvement

I kinda like them..they blend in more..but your car is already pretty dark..so dont know how it'd look.

if ur gonna paint em do it some wierd unexpected color like bright orange or red...but make sure ur cars fast so u dont get ppl laughin

I say just keep them the stock color. I've never been a fan of brush, chrome, or black mirrors...there's plenty of other ways to make your car look better.
But if you must chang mirrors, why not go with Hagus or other aftermarket mirror housings that will give you completely different look.?
But if you like the stock shape, I would go with the chrome/brushed...anthing but black.

I kinda figured. I was just kicking around the idea. FINAL DECISION: Not gonna do it. There's a set of the polished mirrors on sale here for about $400. That's not a bad price, but alot of money just for mirror housings.

I shoulda went with the NEW YORKER though. Chrome mirrors came stock!

I think it only "works" on the GTI because the headlight housings are blacked out. That's the only connection I can see.

Going against the grain and going to say do it! Have yet to see it done on the A4, but I've seen enough guys paints their roofs black. Now why is that OK but going with black mirrors is not.?.?.? I think it would look hot on Santorin, especially if your wheels are black (can't tell if they're gunmetal or black). Joey-mod the headlights (black) and you've got yourself something sick!

I've always been good with envisioning these things, trust me.

I agree with Anthony. Maybe even smoking the tails a bit to complete the theme. It's all about doing what you want to do, not doing what others think is cool. Don't get me wrong, I value everyone's opinions, but I do things the way I want to. Sometimes you just need to take a chance, like my hepatitis mod...

the black roofs mimic the glass roofs on the new benzo's, porsches, etc. i don't think most cars could pull off the black mirror look, especially with a lowered stance and wheels. now if you had the whole race theme going on, then do the mirrors.

but hey it's your car, just trying to save you from what i think's a mistake here.
