Turbo Timer need speed signal wire

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got my turbo timer working. It is a greddy full auto turbo timer but in order to get teh full auto feature to work I need to tap the speed signal wire or speedometer wire. Does any one know where to do this and more importantly what color is the wire. Also any hints on how to tap the parking break wire with out taking my center console apart.

Man I am glad this thing finally works and btw big thanks to Zodiak.

glad you finally got it working. It was always my understanding that the TT's "features" don't work with our cars since they don't make harnesses for it but maybe I'm wrong. As for the parking break feature, just take out the center console, it's not too hard, a few screws hidden behind the plastic covers near the front of the driver's and passenger's seats, some more under the cup holder next to the e-brake (just pull up on the cup holder) and one under the rear seat ashtray IIRC.

Although, the parking brake feature isn't that necessary. When you remove the key, the steering locks, so any wanna be theif wouldn't be able to steer at all. Also the TT has a saftey feature where if you add more time once it's counting down, it makes a very annoying high pitched noise. The only way to stop the noise is to turn off the timer, which means turning off the car. So it's up to you, but I wouldn't say it's that necessary.

Try to do the ebrake thing but no luck. Apparently the TT needs signal on a 12V circuit for the feature. I tested the parking break wires with a voltometer and the voltage is much lower (like not even 1 V). But I tried anyway and sure enough it did not work.

Thanks to 4inDrive. Ill try to find that wire and give it a try.

In the mean time enjoy the picture.

OK it is the blue and white wire as 4indDrive said. And as it turns out the features DO work so I now have a digital speedometer and TACH. It can stuff like record top speed and 0-200 km times and what not. Pretty cool gadget all in all.

It's one of the harnesses going to the cluster. For the auto features just tap into the ebrake's wire. It should go to ground when it's on.

No the parking break feature wont work. You have to wire the brown TT wire to the parking break wire. We have 2 parking break wires. The TT instruction manual says to wire it to the wire that has 12V when the brake is engaged and 0V when it isn't. I tested both wires and only one of them has a signal when the brake is engaged and it is like .1V. Must be a difference between Japanese and Euro cars. I tried hooking it up anyway just to be sure but niether wire seemed to work. I just dont think it is possible. As far as teh speed wire I tapped it at the back of the ECU. It is the blue and white wire. If you are looking at your ECU from the front of the car than take off the harness on your right. It is the bigger of the two harnesses. Then strip away some wire and hook up the purple TT wire. You will need to calibrate it. The instruction manual describes how. IT is pretty accurate. It uses the speed signal to calculate RPM. You also have to calibrate the RPM feature.

I've never seen a parking brake wire that went to +12v but anyway that could be solved with a relay. You also don't need to go to the ecu for the speed sense wire. It's right on the back of the instrument cluster.
